Man, love the way this one turned out! Really interesting combination of traditional woodworking benches and more modern benches. Those non-trimmed edges on the workbench top are triggering the hell outta my OCD though, hah!

I love this style. And it's so true about not knowing what you need until you've work on one. I built my first work bench without knowing how I'd be using it. I now know I need something sturdy like this one. Thanks for sharing.

First video I have watched of yours in the new shop. I love it, old school Make Something. Also, I didn't know how I would feel about the carpet, but I love it. I need to make my version of a modern workbench now. Sketchbook is out, designs are in progress. More like this David, love it.

GREAT bench David. Maybe for the ends, cut a 1 1/2" rabbit, that way when you "end clamp" you are not clamping 3" plus the work piece but only 1 1/2" plus the work piece. Just a thought. I like those 6 little bottom pieces you put next to the floor, it really shows attention to detail AND the electrical source (no cords). Looking forward to the finishing video.

Sweet. I just got a dw745 and made a 4L'x3W' table for it with good space for me to work on. Installed outlets and the such. I estimate it weighs around 250 lbs and stays in place. I do have casters that retract so I can move it around when needed. Can't overstate how great it is to have a nice workbench you can count on after going years working off sawhorse and the such. Also, made sure to give myself some juicy edges to clamp to.

I love the looks at 4:04, "What are you looking at, punk!?" Great looking take on a functional workbench. It's quite a departure from the norm where there's lots jointery involved in building a traditional woodworking workbench. The laminated soft maple top looks nice. However, it will be a good idea to take the time to add the dowels. I've done similar projects with 90 degree butt joints, glue and screws thinking that would be adequate. Each time I've added dowels the difference has been very noticeable.

David that is an excellent design and I appreciate the use of materials available to us at the local Blue or Orange store. If I build it and that is quite likely I will use Southern Yellow Pine for the top. Just to keep cost down. Thank you for this.

William Valentin what's the easy way to know if it's southern yellow at the box stores? I'm assuming it's something in between studs and the fancy stuff that's $10 a piece?

Michael Durham southern yellow pine has an "syp" stamp on it and yellowish tint compared to normal whitewood. The easiest way I've found is that syp generally shows more grain patterns than studs or whitewood. And of course the price tag should say it...

Also, did you put it on both faces of the sliding surfaces or if not then on the drawer or the cabinet part of the slider?

Your new shop looks great. You should schedule your mini split coils to be cleaned every year. We had never had ours cleaned (in the house, not the shop) in 4 years of running. Over time, a light coat of dust sticks to the coils and breaks the surface tension of the water droplets and they drip off the coil down into the fan, missing the drain pan. Ours dripped a LOT of water onto the floor during that hot streak we had back in September. We had the coils cleaned and it stopped the problem perfectly. Be proactive before it runs down on the TV.

I’m currently moving into a bigger home 3 car which means maybe 2 car and a workshop until I build a dedicated 25x30 building in the back. I can’t agree w you more on everything needs a home. You inspired the hell out of me to do that very same thing.
