While there are water hardening steels, that tends to necessitate knowing both the aim quench heat, quench time, and composition of the steel. Since he was using an old sawmill blade, there's a general landscape of the carbon content you'd want for a large monosteel blade like that, he wouldn't have been willing to risk all the effort he put into it up to that point on a water quench. That and the idea of the story was to build a abhorrent antagonist without him directly harming anyone himself. More or less a focus on the philosophy of "Where is the line that makes a person good or bad? Are they bad because of negative thoughts and desires, or are they only bad when they act on them?" And so on with the concept of the repercussions our actions have once they are outside our field of influence and so and so forth. But yeah, I wanted people to hate him and be unsettled by him without him actually physically harming anyone himself up to that point.

@@cinders2894 Thank you very much. I actually have it hanging on my wall and my friends who follow the series refuse to go anywhere near it when they're here. Haha. What's even funnier is the day after, THE day after this was uploaded to Dr. Creepen's channel around 2 years ago, I got an email from a criminal defense attorney in Utah asking me about the intended purpose of the Priscilla brush sword I designed for Schrade. I never actually found out why either. Haha. Oh, and if you're into this story and weapons and stuff, I HIGHLY recommend you check out the Japanese movie RE:BORN. It's a masterpiece and was what inspired me to tell part of this story through the weapons and items in it. If you pay really close attention to the weapons the characters in the movie use, you can find an entire backstory told through them alone. Best I can describe it is a martial arts movie with heavy influence from Japanese horror cinema. There's really nothing else like it.

My favorite feedback has always been when I see someone say something I wrote inspired them to start writing or to get back into it. And I love making jewelry! That's actually something I'd like to get more into and better at. You should swing by my Instagram sometime of you're getting into knife making. I've been able to help several people get into it over the years. Mostly by telling them how to avoid my screw ups... Haha. I like to say let my mistakes work for you. Some of the most shallow, lackadaisical, nonsense writing in modern cinema tailored to the lowest common denominator. And you have the nerve to say something isn't scientific. Don't they have a metal that "absorbs vibration" and don't they literally bullshit their way through half a movie with time travel? Any story that does backwards time travel is immediately the least scientific thing possible. "Oh but they have these stones that control the basic forces of the universe." "Oh and what are those?" "The mind stone, time stone, power stone, sou-" "Ok no just stop. Please just stop." And they have speedsters. Literally the most "this could never be scientifically feasible" power possible. Anything with a speedster is a clear sign that basic physics mean nothing to those writers. Or the green guy that grows three times his original size by creating matter from nothing? So science. 🤣 Anyway, since you like "depth", if you can tell me the man's name in this story I'll concede that you know more about how to tell a story than I do. You only have around 30 other stories in the connected universe to pour through and listen to every tiny piece of information and follow the chain of causality to figure it out. Hell you might even be able to figure out his real motivation and why he lied in this introduction story. Which I'm sure you realized it's part of a larger story since it's clearly stated in the description, and you don't miss a thing, because you demand "depth". Shouldn't be hard for you at all right?

But you're still outing your bullshit with every sentence. "That Cerber crap". You had to listen pretty damn far in to know that's part of the story, especially to be something you call crap. Or did you watch all those ironically too? 😂 You literally watched the first part, left a pissy comment, then went straight on and watched the second part. You're either a masochist or an idiot. Go watch another Disney movie and leave the writing to the adults. Cause I know your comments sound awesome and scathing in your head, but here's the reality champ, nobody is asking you if they can narrate them. You don't have writers in your inbox saying "Hey that was a really good unconstructive negative comment you left on that video. Do you have any helpful advice for the negative comments I'm working on right now?" Or better yet, there's no narrators making a public announcement saying "I'm going to be hard pressed for time, but your comments specifically will get priority over everyone else's." Or "They should make a show or movie out of your comments!" Nobody is asking you for ANYTHING, especially your opinion. Because as important as what you have to say is to you, all it is for me and people like me is something to screenshot and have a good laugh about with our other writer friends. "Hey look at this stupid comment Thanos left on one of my stories after he was done binge watching cringy Undertail music videos" is about all that amounts to in the end. 😂

Sloppy work... smh. Did you bother to make the impact of the hilt match the machete and not your blade? Also the machete would have dulled too soon. Honestly it would be best to just take the blade and leave, a mystery to the police. And now you're putting it in "circulation"? You get two weilders max before your creation gets thrown into evidence and is locked away forever. Still love you though.

Several things used in the making came from a police evidence locker. And a hole in drywall just looks like a hole. And you can't make that assessment without knowing what type of machete was used. Who's the manufacturer? Generic Chinese from Walmart? Gerber? Marble? Condor? Kershaw? Cold Steel? Aim hardness for a good machete is the same area as it is for a sword. Mid 50s HRC. You can cut through a lot of bone with a mid 50s blade before it just stops. Especially with good edge geometry. And just taking the sword gives the police 100% confirmation that another party was involved. Worst possible thing he could have done if he didn't want them to immediately start a manhunt for an accomplice. Also in the follow up to this that was never posted it did end up in an evidence locker. There was a specific scene in this part to indicate that it creates an obsessive pull in people around it. So it wasn't in there for long.

@@joshwaggoner1301 Holy crap man, I'm not prepared for your essay on this! But props to you, haha, I love it. Okay so... The last victim he killed was the daughter, which the guy cut cleanly in half. As said, he had to dent the blade to implicate the impact with teeth from the son... But not the impact from the shin bones, knee bones and pelvis bone from the wife? A blade that could withstand all of that and still slice cleanly through a human would be a miracle at the least, right?

@@Zantreful No, not at all. Teeth are orders of magnitude harder than bone. Will bone have impact on an edge, absolutely. Would it make it no longer paper slicing sharp, no doubt. But a modest machete can do ungodly amounts of damage for an extended period of time, especially with a correctly sharpened edge. There's a great deal of momentum behind a blade that size. Just take a look at some of the Cold Steel product demonstrations. They cut a 200lb+ pig carcass in half with one swing from a very cheap Latin style machete that you would easily find in someone's shed or garage in Alabama. But then there's another consideration. The reality of police work. And I say this as someone who once upon a time wanted to be a homicide detective, and who through my professional and family life knows several homicide detectives. The reality is... Sherlock Holmes they are not. TV and literature has painting a very different picture of detective than what the real world has to offer. And understanding things like edge retention and deterioration under specific usages is a very, VERY niche knowledge set. Not even a particularly astute detective would consider anything beyond the point that the machete was sharp enough to make the coinciding wounds found at the scene, if that. That's just not their normal thought process. In their eyes, the murder weapon is present, it has DNA corresponding to each victim along with matching blood spatter patterns on the perpetrator's body, and if they think to check for it against all odds, damage patterns on the edge to match. In their eyes, that's the murder weapon. The niche knowledge of the amount of edge deterioration in correlation with the hardness of the blade would never even be a consideration. Also, while I've had a few similar discussions on the topic, it is usually about what you mentioned above. But never about the pink elephant in the room that I thought would be the first thing people would pick up on, and what is intended to be the mechanism behind the next part of this story. Which is in turn meant to be the finale of the independent story set before the respective WAA, Cursed Object, and Worst Hotel stories merge into the "Werewolves, Worst Hotel, and the Most Cursed Object in History storyline. And that's the very existence of the story itself. The big, massive piece of publicly accessible evidence that they just read or listened to. The narrative being that there is a detective that does, against all odds, discover that there's a misanthropic bladesmith who lives right down the road from the crime scene and who realizes this might be more than just a scary story on the internet. Granted, the plot isn't going to be what you might expect, but such is the theme of the series. And there's also a lot about his motivations and his history he omitted in this story, but that's why you have him popping in and out of the other parts of the series. You get to piece his history and secrets together as the story goes one. Well... at least people like you who have an eye for details might.
