Making my "First" Balsa Fishing Lure

Believe it or not this is the first time I've ever made a lure out of balsa. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and buttery the carving was.
The whole process was much easier than I anticipated and I definitely see why so many people use it. The buoyancy of this stuff is amazing and makes it pretty easy to give a lure a lot of action.
I'm definitely going to be making more balsa crankbaits from now on. Just need this dang weather to get better for me to tolerate being outside lol.

Yeah, I gotta say man, you have open water to fish while I have to drill thru ice here in Alberta, Canada to get to open water lol. Sorry…(yes it’s Canuck to say sorry)…It’s not cold there. 🤭 Great lure buddy! I’m waiting impatiently for spring and your next video. Tight lines (in open water) wherever you are, 👍🏻🎣🥶🇨🇦

Beautiful bait! And I hate cold wind too! Soon enough we'll all be complaining about humidity, mosquitoes, and swamp ass, but I really hate wind! Keep cranking out the videos and I'll keep watching!

I know lol I’ll be complaining in the middle of the summer too. It’s hard for the weather to stay in that sweet spot.

Awesome job! Killer paint scheme! I can deal with cold but cold and windy is a no go. Should do a video at some point of fishing with all of the winter baits!

Yeah I should do that. It’ll be a fishin mission to just catch one fish lol I’ll be bundled up like an Eskimo for real cus we just had a cold front.

Nice lure! Hard to catch a bass this time of year on a fast moving crank bait. You’ll tear them up on it in when the water warms up!

That lure looks nice and has got a good action. Well done! By the way, I have a question. It has got nothing to do with your baitmaking but I am curious what that square tattoo with the red filling and the one nearby are. On your left hand‘s thumb. I ask myself every video but did not figure it out yet.

Your certificate still says "Treys Art"... I know you renamed your channel, but "Art" should have remained in the name of your channel, because every lure you make is a work of art! By the way, I don't know that I was ever able to download the certificate when you posted a link. I am "Temperature Sensitive" as well... I always say, "I do mind the cold at all, as long as it do get below 80°!" LOL Great job as always!!!

If you want good quality go with an iwata. You could always get one of the cheap ones from harbor freight to practice with too.
You should really get your hands on some thin super glue it works way better than the regular

I wanted to smooth out the surface. I was also hoping to add some depth to the paint but that didn’t really happen
