I'm on of these "GTA 4 is better then GTA 5" persons but i have to say this is awesome. I'm experimenting with all sorts of mods for most GTAs that got released and had no idea converting IV to V like this is possible (not from a technican perspective but rather i had no clue most of these mods do exist) good job dude combining these mods and also good job to all mod creators

You know, my man, me too - I was surprised. I really thought at first "25 mods in one copy? Yeah right, pfft, like it'll sustain". I mean it has its issues and GTA 4 isn't the best with mods sadly, so there's a chance of crashing every now and then, but... I was surprised to know for even a second all of them can run at once.

It's cool but I still prefer the dark and gritty GTA 4 weather. There are periods of time where the contrast is high. Also, I like the volumetric fog a lot in the original. They did the haze thing really well for the time. Definitely like the customization stuff though.

I remember, when GTA 5 wasn't avaliavle on PC. Some modders made a mod where the character selection wheel from gta 5 was availabe in gta 4. And you had Niko, Luis and Johnny to choose, just like in GTA 5. I believe this mod would be a cool addition.

It certainly would be! However, the problem with it is that the missions from TBOGT and TLAD won’t load if you’re playing GTA IV the base game. That would be a good modification to seeing if that could happen.

GTA 4 I felt like always intended to have a dark and depressing feeling to it, using these mods just destroys GTA 4 but that's just my opinion, I would probably install some of these to enhance the gameplay experience to at least make the game feel more modern in this last months of 2023. Great video with an awesome selection of mods!

That’s exactly why I normally wouldn’t accept this as my ‘style’ of playing GTA 4! The idea here (as described) is to see if I can bypass GTA 4’s limits and see if I can make it as sort of a doppelgänger to another title, such as GTA 5 (in this case)! My only issue with this was the LS weather mod. Taking away that grit and grime of Liberty City is like a mouse with no cheese. You just gotta have it.

Actually mice aren't as fond of cheese in real life as they are in cartoons, they're more attracted to the oils in the cheese than the cheese itself. They're easier to catch with Olive oil and bread

one thing that GTA IV needs is some anti-ailasing which isnt natively in the game. You can force MFAA which from what ive heard is just msaa 4x in the Nvidia control panel which really helps!

Agreed! I’ve heard of that trick too, I’ll give it a shot! I hope they come out with something for AMD users. Anti-aliasing, z-fighting, and performance stuttering are three of the major issues with GTA IV standalone. Thankfully, someone named Parallellines0451 fixed z-fighting. Someone fixed performance stuttering with DXVK. And now we need anti-aliasing fixes, which I’m hoping someone can come up with a better fix for that.

​​@@NotAJ The next-gen GTA 4 port will come eventually. My guess is Spring 2024. I wouldnt worry about the graphics. Grove Street Games, the company that made the definitive editions for the GTA Trilogy were dropped. Its ashame that R* approved it, but GSG will not be making games for R* ever again. They were a sad mobile game developer. Rockstars most recent PS4 port of RDR1 was handled by Double Eleven and it is now the best version of the game to date, no matter how anyone feels about the price tag. I would expect GTA 4 to be the same which is not remastered but simply ported with 4K and 60fps.

After GTA V came out I could never stand to go back and play IV again because so much of the experience just didn't hold up. But this really makes me want to play IV again with this mod set. Great video

GTA IV had a sale on the Xbox store recently for like six bucks, I could not express how shocked I was that I can still buy it on console, say what you will but this game just FEELS good it just ooozes that gta charm from the older games like vice city and San Andreas while still feeling like a newer title and a decent 3rd person shooter, and having the BEST car physics in my opinion and this is the 360 COPY. If you can look past pop in and the obvious graphic fidelity it truly still shines to this day. Long live Niko

When it's raining outside your house, turn on that game console, and play GTA 4. There are definitely a few of these I’d like to have in IV, either to experience the story differently, or for the fact that V did something better (car and character customization, the car naming system, greet/antagonize). I love the aesthetics of IV, but to play it in different lighting/weather would be very interesting. Now I need to see V modded to be like IV, especially the vehicle physics bc I very much dislike the arcadey feel of V.

Hey, awesome video! I love the look of these mods. I never really liked GTA IV, so this is a huge step in the right direction, because I am a New Yorker, and I loved the LC in the game. Quick question: My main issues with IV was that it was the one game in the series that truly deviated from the arcade-style physics of III, VC, SA, V, and even the PSP/Stories games. Do you recommend any mods to make the physics of GTA IV (especially the driving) more arcade'ish, like V and the other GTA games?

No matter what anyone does GTA 5 still looks better and holds it's standard even today it's amazing how optimised it is i played on nvidia 660 I don't know why my rtx 4060 laptop couldn't run it maxed it 8x msaa 60 fps near vegetation 😂

msaa is extremely demanding. I usually leave it at 2x so my 3050 doesnt shit itself

@@MikyleY I found a sweet spot though turn msaa to 4x and reduce grass quality from ultra to very high( it makes 8-10 fps difference near heavy foliage and 5-6 overall).

Now make it work in VR and then you have New York simulator 😂

Definitely agreeable! This was just to see if the aura can be twisted from GTA 4 to GTA 5, essentially trying to see if the limits of GTA 4 can be bypassed so it can be a doppelgänger to another title! I hope to try this with “GTA 4 to GTA San Andreas”, though it will be difficult considering the contrast in universes.

You should make gta 5 more like gta 4, and no we love the dark nature of gta 4, you should try to make the darkness better, yeah great video tho, good work

The dream game is GTA 4 's story and world with GTA 5's gameplay, graphics, & controls.

Thank you, my friend - it's a nice little experiment that I wanted to do on one of my most favorite games ever. This is not how I would normally play the game, but it's a nice little project.

You know, back when gta 5 still released on console only, i modded 4 to looks like 5, like the tank, plane, vehicle, road textures. Scripts etc. even the protagonist like trevor, franklin, and michael. But one thing that irks me back then was weather. No good gta 5 style weather back then 😂

Oh yeahhh, I remember those days! 😂 That modder JulioNIB and some of his collaborators did such an amazing job on those! It’s a shame that some of them don’t work for me though, like the character switching mod or the weapon switching mod - not sure why and others have experienced issues. That’s why some of the mods look slightly different since other developers have made ones that worked for me straight away. Either way, what a time that was, eh?

I never beat GTA 4 so I forgot everything im gonna replay it with these mods and breathe life back into the game

I remember back in 2014 or so before the PC version of GTA V came out, people were trying their best to mod 4 to be more like 5.

That is absolutely correct. The motivation for these mods were mostly popular during 2014. And then some years later, modders continued that legacy and improved it overtime :)

@@NotAJ This reminds me of when I was a kid, I tried to mod cars in to GTA 4 but a lot of them needed their handling files modded by hand so I learned how to do that. That PC caught fire a couple years later either from a cheap power supply, dust buildup or just a bit of both factors.

Looks amazing! Now all I will need is to find $2500 for pc parts to run it 🤔

That's what this really boils down to, because GTA IV needs that 😂

The ambience seems cool, weapon wheel and radio wheel are simply quality of life upgrades. I also really hate the mission passed screen as the original changing ones are perfect and I really really hate the GTA Online stuff

GTA IV really needs more mods that DONT require downgrade. Not to say its bad to do so, but thats a headache in itself which if you screw files up you cant open

Yeah, I can see how that would be frustrating, honestly. I’ve seen many request that mods be supported for the latest update. But the problem is that Grand Theft Auto IV has its own complications, even to the point where ENBs won’t typically work on the latest versions.

Another mod that would be needed is a character wheel to change between Niko, Johnny and Luis. Though switching characters would make the game to change the storyline for each characters and the mod would need you to own both the lost and the damned and the ballad of gay tony expansions in order for it to work.

That would be cool, but... I have a feeling that would be hard to code. I could probably explain why but I'll refrain since I'm not THAT SMART lol. But it would require a lot of manipulation to switch between the DLCs and loading their script files to see what missions are coming up next. Could cause problems if a modder tried it, but who knows.

After years of playing this game with the same lighting and mechanics im downloading all these lol need to make things new before i get bored lol

GTA 4 is the best one man as being 25 years old I’ve played a lot of the series remember the Birds Eye view in number 1, but the sad thing is they came so far all the way with the release of GTA 5 then once a few people left rockstar.. it turned into saints row 😅

Unfortunately, that's the way it's become, man. It's truthfully sad, to say the least. That's why I enjoy always revisiting this gem.

Funny how all of those hud features are in a single package for San andreas ( By Dk22), a way older game.

Could add a Arcade handling mod and mind control to flip and roll your car in the air and roll it back over when upside down
