I can't be the only one who wishes to have seen Kingdom of the Sun, in full. Emperor's new groove is fine, I'm not knocking it by ANY Means. However, Kingdom of the sun, just OOZES With Fantasy Aesthetic, and actual mythology from Peru! It would've been amazing to see the 'Prince and the Pauper' story told in this epic fantasy way. And if you've EVER listened to the love song for Kingdom of the Sun, "One Day She'll Love Me" (Performed by Pacha and Manco's bride-to-be as they fall in love), you can HEAR the magic and love and passion Sting put into those lyrics as he does with ALL his songs.

I was completely amazed by difference in Izma’s storyline and her beautiful song “Snuff Out the Light”

Now, consider one idea which may not have penetrated Disney's mind at the time; Yzma was still alive as a cat during the end of the movie. What if, instead of having everything follow as it did in Kronk's New Groove, Disney simply used Kingdom of the Sun as a theatrical-quality sequel, with Manco being the son of Kuzko, and Yzma is back to her original self, transformed Huaca into a living thing. All the aforementioned, and Yzma decides to take her revenge on Kuzco through Manco.

I would’ve loved to see Kingdom of the Sun. Snuff Out The Light is such a bop XD That’s how I came across the fact that Emperor’s New Groove was supposed to be something else entirely.

Oddly, it sounds like a film that makes Yzma better than we get of the skeletally-thin lunatic (who has great lines). Listening to it almost has echoes of Ursula's "Poor Unfortunate Souls" and I'd love the idea of Harvey Fierstein's character

Thank you for unearthing this story ! Roger Allers is one of my mom and dad's closest and oldest friends. This was so devastating for him and was his last Disney project. But this movie was to be his center stone of his achievements. He spent so much time researching the Inca culture, and it was very close to his heart. The princess Nina was named after me ❤️

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I am a big fan of Roger Allers and his work. Once learning of his struggles on this, I knew I had to reiterate the story. It's certainly worth repeating. But Wow! The princess was named after you? You must be awfully close friends for that honor. :)

@@AnimatorTalk So my parents like to say they knew him before he could afford peanut butter LOL 😆 He actually brought my parents together in the 70s in Arizona. Just a bunch of hippy kids during the peace & love era. Another very close project to his heart is his animation of The Prophet. Him and my mother would read the book together, and in an Interview he even talks about them reading it as teenagers ! He is just as an amazing person as he is an incredible talent. He has truly inspired generations of not just animators but people's hearts 🥰

I see hints of Emperor’s New Groove in the early animation of Kingdom of the Sun, particularly the animation on Manco, later Kuzco.

i honestly would still like to see this version, dont get me wrong, emperor's new groove might just be my favorite disney movie, but i would like to also have ths version, not to replace it, but as an alternate version, for me to enjoy both

I wonder if there's a parallel universe where "Kingdom of the sun" was made, and released instead lol

I'm sure like everything that's been changed there's a version where such a film was made. As a Star Trek fan, I'm sure there'd be one with a fifth (and/or) sixth season of Enterprise and hopefully a better-performing version of "John Carter" (Disney really screwed things up when it was such a good movie)

I loved the emperors new groove as a kid and after this id love to see kingdom off the sun as well

Yeah no, I'm gonna be real here, if we can find someone who has a similar tone to Yzma, maybe use Janet Jackson, We could turn this into the Third Emperor's New Groove Movie. Because having a movie about the scales of Success, Expectations, and Burnout seems very Relatable to a 2020 audience. Maybe this time we have the Pauper be played by a Spaniard who's gotten used to life in Kuzco's kingdom, until one day he falls in front of kuzco revealing the royal birth mark. Who knows.

Great idea but knowing a corporation like Disney I feel like they'd have a tight lock on all ideas made through them, even the scrapped ones

I hope that whenever they inevitably make a live action remake of Emperor's New Groove, I hope they will do something with Kingdom of the Sun.

It certainly had some good bones to it

You know how they changed the movie 🍿 from the original version into the buddy comedy 🎭 version we know and love ❤️ today

I'd say they should just fully animate and finish Kingdom of the Sun.

I don’t like the idea of the OG film but I wanted the yzma song and her being a necromancer. Also I’d really love to make a Disney movie.

Saddest part of the switch was Dejas fantastic character and the overall story idea with the sun. The rest was in fact too bland imo, although it could’ve worked with 1 or 2 completely different and more interesting main characters. Plus: Sting seemed already outdated the moment the movie came out, so I never got why they went that route in the first place. Should’ve used Prince and really let him loose, this could’ve become the most „craziest“ Disney film ever
