This is really cool. I modify denim vests into battle jackets with a ton of hand stitching patches and punching studs, this is a cool way to be more creative with my work

Nicely done. I just ruined a large mat for my fly tying workbench by accidently burning my brand in the wrong place. Careless and shameful, I know but I was tired, etc etc. Instead of throwing it away, now I'm thinking I'll cover it up with a nice patch! Thanks.

May be a daft question but if i used Chrome Tanned leather (I have lots of scraps to use up) would that then make the patch machine washable?

  • @MisterFuturtastic

Would it be better to use a faux leather for this application because then someone can put it on something that can be washed? If so, what might be a good material to use?

I'm a newbie so I can't help you out there. Commenting to see if someone who knows the answer will chime in. I've lined everything since I've started. Either with pig skin or some fake leather upholstery stuff that I bought from Walmart. What do you finish you leather with? I use Atom Wax If it's an oil then maybe the dye is "bleeding" out with the oil.

Did I spy some new weaver punching chisels in this video? Looks like they have a longer handle and finer prongs!?!?

I looked at the Weaver Tool List and these were not included. The handles look beefier than the normal stitching irons. Wonder what 'brand' they are.

Love the videos. I value them for the knowledge they are providing me in my new hobby. However, if you just made it, it's not vintage. Let us be as thoughtful in description, as we are in creation. Nostalgic? Sure. Vintage styled? Definitely. Vintage? Negatory.

You intentionally scribed in a line 1/4" from the edge in order to center your 2 "peace-s" of leather perfectly and STILL you fudged it!!! 😳 I'm disappointed.
