How To Make A Leather Blanket Roll (Super Easy!)
This is a quick and simple leather craft tutorial for how to make a leather blanket roll. This project is great because you can use smaller pieces of belting or strapping scrap, and you can also simply grab some pre-cut straps if you want! Add a couple buckles, a couple D rings, and some rivets and you're good to go :) Happy Crafting!

$30 for an HBC point blanket is an absolute steal of a deal; A brand new 4 point(a double) goes for around $400. Judging by the label, there's no French language on it, so it was made pre-1950, and the square label design started being used somewhere between 1934 and 1940. So your blanket is somewhere between 75 and 90 years old.

@@Corter Yeah, you should. You might want to do some research on it, too. The Hudson's Bay Company is very much entwined in Canadian history, at one point owning most of the territory that became Canada. Those blankets were used in the fur trade. It's a bit like finding a rare pair of vintage Levis or an antique 45. It could be worth much more. I just looked on eBay and they are all in the $300+ range. Where do you get them for under $100?
These blanket rolls will look great for all the Pendleton blankets that my friends and I have. Thanks for sharing.
Wow what a beautiful, practical way to use some leather. Great for upcoming picnic blankets as well!
I've been wanting to make something similar for my yoga mat for years. Thank you for the inspiration, good to see you again!
I'm making a carrying case to replace an old nylon one, and this is the perfect handle I've been envisioning. Thanks for posting this, this'll help a ton!
Brilliant! Might have to knock this out as an upcoming wedding gift for a very outdoorsy couple. 😁

Thanks again Eric @Corter , it turned out great! Burgundy veg tan for the spine (doubled) with hand stitched edge, old school brass rivets n burrs, brass snaps and Conway buckles, latigo for the straps. Alpaca blanket wrapped under a waterproof ground pad. Should be just the thing for their mountain picnics and star gazing. 😊
I maked same 👍this is really cool (not cold😅)
Could you maybe do a tutorial on saddle bags? I’d like to find a way to make some nice ones that still are stable enough to keep my phone and water in when I’m riding

well, you should definitely use a thick vegtan leather and do a double bottom plus sides

I gotta get or make myself a strap cutter at some point. I think that'll be my next project when I pick through my leather stuff again.
Excellent project, Eric! Very cool.

Great quick n easy project Eric. I bought a couple of old hospital blankets (a bit of a thing here in NZ) in anticipation of this movie! Hope you’re well rested from your break. 😊
Awesome project! I got a really cool merino wool blanket with topographical pattern and a very cheesy version of the blanket harness you just made. Now i gotta make one for my blanket but im going to stitch it i think.
Killer. You may have mentioned this already but this will go great with a ruck sack I made with still in used lash tags. 😂 Super versatile.🎉
Been on my list for far too long as well 😂
Thank you "E". Nice blanket as well. I'd love a blanket like that. Where can I find them? 😊
