The Easiest Way to Wet Mold Leather EVER!
It's finally here! We've been obsessively making these wet molded leather trays for months now, and thanks to our new partnership with Buckleguy we've made a full length tutorial on how to make your own beautifully DIY wet molded leather trays in the easiest way possible. Using these three part leather wet molds made from Baltic Birch, you're able to combine any two leathers you'd like to make absolutely stunning, luxurious valet trays in many different styles. We take you through the whole process, from setting up the wet mold itself to molding the leather, gluing it together, and sewig it up using a saddle stitch -- It's seriously one of my favorite leather crafting projects of all time!

you can do protection cases for mobile and tablets or custom computers ... I say many do I yourself computer with raspberry pi computers into bad cases. This is a good idea.
I just started and made a catch all, valet tray last night using your pattern. Thank you. I'm a disabled vet with PTSD and this really just gives me a few hours a day that none of that stuff bugs me. This goes way beyond patterns and videos. This is making me feel like me again. Thank you. These are really neat, I'll get one someday hopefully.

Have you tried fly fishing? And in addition... fly tying? Both provide hours of peace, tranquility, and nature to ones life! Plus it can go hand in hand with leather work, and wood working. All hands on work, that provide creativity.
That was very kind of you for the shout out. I appreciate you guys. Awesome trays.

Same. I guess I should have ordered the catalog that pops up when you visit the site. 🤷♂️
Good of you to share this. I'm an 83 yearold hillbilly Lather crafter AND wood worker, i have been making wooden molds a long time. Holsters, knife sheaths etc.
A couple of cool tips: You can resurface old punching blocks to restore the original surface, and you can make really nice handbags from these molds also by splitting the dies with the leather halfway (along the width), leaving the top open.
Crazy beautiful, and thank you for being so clear about the leathers you're using, threads sizes, chisel sizes, etc. OMG! That is soooo helpful to newbies like me. Thank you! Awesome and exciting stuff.
I have been using buckle guy off and on for a few years, but really dug through their site after seeing your video. I had no idea they had so much stuff! Definitely will be using those guys a lot now ! As for this video, those molds are AWESOME ! I do a very simplistic tray, but I will be getting me some molds, this will sure up my game ! They look so easy to use, and do such a fantastic job forming the leather. Great video, and thank you for explaining so much. You guys are awesome helping us with info and instruction!
Buckle Guy is great for hard-to-find hardware. Never wanted to do leather trays before; now I do!
They are so beautiful and the process seems to be something that maybe I can do. Thank you for sharing 😊
Love hearing your excitement, Eric! I’m sure this partnership will bring great things ahead!!
The trays look really nice. Plus, it's really practical to have these around the house, they keep the lil things organized.
I really enjoyed this video. Love the simplicity of the mold... and the classic professional outcome is Awesome!!!
I'm new to leather crafting and am super impressed with your detailed videos. Thank you for your time and for sharing your talents.
I’ve been eyeing these for months and am so glad to see the process start to finish! Thank you!

Same. I've been eyeing these molds for awhile, but I wasn't 100% sure if I wanted to spend the money to try them until now.
Been watching your videos a couple days now. Ive been making leather bracelets and want to get into larger projects. Your videos are so thorough and easy to understand, you could easily be a teacher. I just Liked AND Subscribed👍
Oh boy, I don't need another craft in my life...oh maybe, okay yes I do!! My husband loves leather so he would totally be okay with me buying everything lol.
Love these trays. The two-tone looks stunning!
Hammertime! Let's continue!
Buckleguy is the best! I love that they carry leather with the back side finished. It makes everything look so clean. I recently learned to use a sewing machine and want to get one of their Dude’s Who Sew T-shirts 🤣
Buckleguy are great. Been using them for 2/3 years and have no complaints. They ship to me here in Ireland no problem and in great time. Now they just have to open a European branch so I dont have to pay import tax.
Thank you for your teaching videos! I’ve wondered how to mold leather for a while :) good things to come from this❤️
Great tips and love the attention to details in your process. Keep'em coming.
I have been planning to make a leather tray for some time, but your video has given me some extra inspiration. Very high quality appearance to the finished product 👍

I am a newer member to your channel...I have to say I am HOOKED. I have not made anything as of yet..I came across your site as I was looking to learn about the craft. Your site is my favorite by far. You explain everything in detail! It's great 👍. I can't believe that 90% of the molds are sold out already..hopefully I win a set & they get stock made available soon. Thanks for all you do!
Those molds make this kind of project look so much easier. I've been a Buckle Guy customer for about a year now, and I'll be using them a lot in the future. And buying patterns from Corter Leather. ;)

Great video ,never really thought about wet moulds until now, glad to see that buckleguy does international shipping,as here in the UK leather crafting shops are few on the ground, cheers ,look forward to more of your videos.
I've been doing this for a couple of years. I'm using 8 oz veg tan. I'll get it molded and let set until it is not completely dry, just slightly damp. Set your oven at 200. Once to temp turn the oven off and place your mold/leather assembly in the oven and let cool in the oven to room temperature. I have found that the oven hardens the leather more than just air dry. You may want to try it to see if there is a difference in results. Weaver Leather has a good video making leather armor which is the same process.
Great looking trays.
Boy that came out nice! Great job!
Thanks for sharing, I absolutely loved this video!
Nice product and tutorial. Appreciate the nice camera work also!

Very nicely made tray, and it looks so easy! I am wanting to get into leather working hun holsters, and the best ones are wet molded to fit! I am going to sign up for both your channel and their web site! Thanks for video!
Stunning 😍
Awesome video, thank you!
Trabalho Maravilhoso! Parabéns!Adorei!
Amazing as usual and I have some awesome gift ideas for these if I win. Plus just more working in the craft. Thanx so much!!!
Wow! Is amazing!
I have wet moulded up to 5" deep. I found that is about the limit. If you're using unbacked leather, you can use PVA glue at the molding stage and it will come out already as one piece. I also used to dry them in a 50 degC hotbox, which really sets the collagen in the leather.
