Love this build so much, wish we had less tools so we could fit a car in our SEMA booth this week. Let us know if there's any other tools you need :)

Thanks for all the support! Sema would be a little tight this year but I will try to make a winter escape a bit later, to test out the car. Maybe Sema would be a better idea for next year with all the finished bodywork

I really, REALLY appreciate when proper engineering is done to builds instead of the "good old experience" that may or may not be optimized but "someone told me it's how it works". Really, engineering is pretty under-appreciated on many of those builds I see around. Love to see someone actually knowing how tension works on materials under different loads. Don't take me wrong on experience tho: it does make a ton of difference, and some people have been working PROPERLY for many years and all, but that's not the case always, and knowing the theory and applying it properly does show up on numbers.

Yeah, it is possible to build a car with just "experience" but no matter how good you are it is going to take a lot of trial and error. Everything in this build just works from the get-go. Its great.

What Builds are you talking about? Some examples please... this guy is great no doubt, but these comments shitting on other people's builds are not so great. Kudos to this man for creating this content. Shame on you guys in the comments for taking a huge dump on other people's builds.

@@michaelpereira2888 How is this taking a dump on other peoples builds? We are just saying that it is refreshing to see a different way of doing things. Not to take anything away from other people, but often people try stuff and then realize that it is not going to work because they didnt do the research. And after all there is a reason why production cars and race cars etc. are all designed by engineers.
Video starts with a bit of opposite lock in an unfinished car caught in a ferocious downpour. Respect to that!

This is possibly the most done with the least, car build that I have ever followed. This is going to be a scary fast car. All science and thought. Except for the silly shifter there is not a wasted bit of effort or money in this. 5 years after this build is complete he will still be accumulating subs. The technical discussions on the suspension alone are priceless.
This channel deserves more subs!!

I wish youtube told me about this long ago, this is amazing! You don't see many builds like this . Usually it's just an LS swapped cookie cutter chassis with a garret turbo blah blah blah BORING. Very refreshing to see this monster. Great work!
Wow people are actually disliking your video because your building your own race car and they aren't! Sad people in the world just hating for no reason. Keep up the good work bro.
Instead of wrapping the car in silver how about glueing autumn leaves all over it. The ones stuck on it after the rainy run looked pretty good.
Damn my heart sank when you showed the damage to the front splitter. Love the build!
So refreshing to see a proper build, by a very knowledgeable engineer 👊

1st post after watching every ep - Loving the attention to detail on this build. I would always try and simplify and lighten (lotus 7-esk), but am well aware there are limitations that modern electrical technology overcomes that make cars faster and smarter (slightly ironic as I'm an electrical technician). Really looking forward to seeing more of this as the practical testing and shakedown progresses, particularly the aero package, as I think you're going out on a limb most others would not, brave man! Awesome build and very much enjoying this. Please keep us geeks updated! ;)
I never knew i needed to be subscribed to a channel so much in my life

Oh man, this car is looking so awesome! Nice to see some sponsorship looking to help you out with tools in the comments section below. I'll have to pick up some of your new merchandise for Christmas.
love your work, great video
Love the bulid. I would add an aluminium strip on the front of the splitter, for two reasons. You can make it sharper for better aero(I suppose, you will know better) and it weould be a little sturdier. Not "drive straight into a 40x40mm box section" sturdy, but sturdier if you encounter any debris on the track.

Amazing work man! Wow! :)
G'day from West Australia, taking shape, track day getting closer buddy😉🙂👍👍
This is an amazing build. I suggest checking out this cloth called peel-ply. You put it over the resin while the resin is wet and it keeps the resin film even over the carbon. When the resin goes off you can just peel it off. You can even apply more resin to the peel ply (it will soak through) to build up the thickness. It leaves a slightly rough texture (the texture of the cloth) but it is really easy to sand smooth. The texture is much lighter than the carbon weave also. For sailing skiffs we usually fair the surface with a light weight body filler and then paint with epoxy primer and 2 pack poly top coat. Alternatively you can just sand off the resin to a smooth finish and spray on clear-coat (like a car).
Fantastic and inspiring. Thank You.
hard work pays off
You are my hero!
so cool almost time!
This car is sick holy
what a death trap I love it!
Wow I love to watch this👌🏼😊
It really is a simple process. With this, it'd be, albeit an expensive, but super simple and fast method of building and replacing body panels, ducting and splitters.
the carbon fiber setup is genius
Thank you for explaining it so well. Can I ask what would be the benefit of vacuum bagging and putting in a heated container while it cures?
Top job! Respect, Respect👏🏆🤝!
Don't worry buddy, shit happens! Excellent job!

I wish I had commented last time on the carbon fiber process. Anyway, once the foam board and the carbon cloth has been cut and fitted, you may want to put the resin on the foam board first to better facilitate the cloth to take the resin, as well as helping the cloth stay in place. What this will do is a help the cloth stay in place better and the cloth will absorb the resin. you will have to add some resin from the top in some places, but not much. You will also have less bubbles in the resin this way. press it and squeegee afterwards.
Nice intro! 👍
If you will be replacing your roof (W/sunroof and the surrounding of the sunroof is rusting) in a sedan (a comfort daily driver) would you be using the same type of carbon fiber and foam? Looking for doing some like that but, in a elegant way, something that does not let the exterior noises, rain or even heat go thru to the cabin and must important, firm and no water leaks at all, what would you use?Thx
How the fuck can this channel be so underrated? Your knowledge and your fab skills are amazing! Keep up the good work! Congrsts from Argentina 🇦🇷
Good job! A quick question about your ignition system...are you using one driver per 2 coils? I can't remember what driver you used, but does that work well? I have an M137 V12 that needs coils and was thinking about using the same twin coilpack as the M113 engine is using and control it using a standalone ECU.
Can you provide a link to the foam and weight carbon cloth? Thanks
Hey your videos about suspension geometry and also the ones making this car's suspension got me thinking about rear wheel steering. Does it have a place in racing?
How does the liquid resin not drip all back down when soaking vertical pieces? Isn't it very runny?
did you think about something like kevlar under on the underside due to its abrasion resistance? i was thinking to make a diffuser for a street car with a kevlar underside in a effort to prolong life.
Dude! you live in Oakville, I grew up in Pickering not too far away. I recognized that suburb right away and then saw the Canadian post box.
Hey man, you built it, and they're race parts, so not stupid. They can be repaired and is not too much trouble so... hell might as well make a few extras.
Dope af
Dude, watch some surfboard laminating videos and get yourself a rubber squeegee it will go faster, Lam drier and thus be lighter, with less air bubbles, and drive a bit of resin into the foam. “Light and Tight” is the motto!!
What the heck is this thing spose to be. I LOVE IT!!!!!!
If the foam doesn't add any structural rigidity then is it worth the price verses having foam from a hobby store? Unless the cheap foam melts from the resin hardening.
Traction has left the server....
pulling pro gamer move on the opening. *nice*
Just a thought, if you cut small holes (12"+ grid), in the foam core, the resin could fill in and work act as a support between the two layers of carbon fiber.
you are my heroe!
That carbon came out better than some "professionals" can do.
Love your work man! Does the cone airfilters suck in rainwater?
You could try an vacuum pump or an vacuum cleaner and plastic bags to create an cheap vacuum bag for better results. But you do well atm and for your parts its good enough llike you did the job. Honestly i'm more impressed by anything around the carbon fiber. Its insane that you built this custom car all on by your self. Greetings from Germany
Oh my God very beautiful project!!!!! What type of wheels do you have on your car it’s a very nice looking wheels I mean rims
Loving the entire build... except for the intake manifold. I'm sure with a proper tig welder over that spool gun would make it turn out great. I'd love to see to remake one over winter when you're not driving that car
Wanted to ask about the edges of the CF parts where the foam is exposed, arent those going to eventually gather more and more moisture and grime and gunk and basically soak with stuff?
@Kalvinjj

indeed likely, a good choice would be to coat them to seal these edges.

@@philer wraps are permeable to let moisture out, preventing water vaper bubbles , but it goes both ways. So will not prevent soaking up water weight.
