How to Tune a Standalone ECU - E55 ASL Part 22

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here's the long awaited tuning video you guys have been asking for. Btw I later realized, some maps I showed in the video were from an older saved session. They are slightly off from what the engine is actually running on right now.

    “...I’ve been really lazy...” says the guy who has engineered and built a race car in his garage by himself. Not to mention document the entire process. I think the patrons will understand if you wait till the end to update the panel. Great work. It makes me miss the FSAE team at TN Tech when I was in eng. school.

    I really enjoyed the engineering lesson in this video. I've seen other tuners briefly mention VE Tables and your explanation finally made it all make sense. You learn to understand and it shows in your explanation. M113K engine is built like a tank! Now I can see why Mercedes-Benz AMG Performance went with twin turbo in the V center of the V8 engine. Way more efficient and better performance. I really enjoyed the build project and just now had time to catch up on your videos. Keep up the great work! Thinking back to the intake manifold video I said to my self, it will be interesting to see how this intake looks on the dyno maps (especially during transition from atmospheric to boost), but you have obviously created a masterpiece which has only just begun to show it's true capabilities.

I really hope he never takes down these vids. (and again, I'm not mocking Rob Dahm or anything, I love his project and I follow every of his vids, but I just think he's quite overrated)

    The only thing I can think from this is that you could probably gain quite a bit of top end by getting a cast LS intake manifold, chopping the plenum off of it and putting it on your runners. In my experience, I know my engine would breathe better up top with a bigger plenum volume than I have, but I went with one with dual runners instead to get a bit better spool. (4g64) This for sure works though, but i'm sure you're always trying to think of ways to make things better. If you're concerned about fitting the throttle body, what a lot of CTS-V guys do and I'm sure others as well is move the throttle body out farther, so there will be an elbow off of the mainfold and the throttle body sits down lower to let the intake clear the hood on those cars.

    How can you raise the boost? The turbo turbine is fixed pitch right?

  • @Conservator.

    @Conservator.

    4 жыл бұрын

    Boost is always regulated in turbo engines. Usually by opening a valve that let part of the exhaust gasses by-pass the turbo(‘s). Some turbo’s have movable vanes that direct the exhaust airflow. So boost is raised by opening such a valve at a higher pressure. On modern cars these valves are controlled by the ECU (As opposed to by a spring).
