Making Black Sesame Mochi Cake [Naturally Gluten-Free]

This black sesame mochi cake is another variation of Hawaiian butter mochi. Here I am using my favorite ingredient, black sesame seeds as the main flavor.
Note: this recipe is not overly sweetened, so I suggest not to reduce the sugar.

    Absolutely fantastic recipe! I made this batter and created several different treats: mini-cakes by using silicone muffin pans, then delicious black sesame crepes, and also some thin and crispy sesame snap cookies. By experimenting with techniques, this one batter of yours provided lots of options. Next I'm doing a rolled cake with a pandan filling. The black and green will be lovely together. Thank you SO much for sharing!

    Hi, this cake looks delicious and I want to try to make it; however, I do not have neither evaporated milk nor whipping cream, so can I just use coconut milk instead? If so, how much coconut milk shall I use? Thank you in advance!

    Condensed milk is not very common in my area. Is it okay if I use milk instead? I know the flavor will be a bit different. But just want to make sure it's okay as a substitute. Thank you!

    this looks really good! I'm excited to try to bake this for my friend, however I see you wrote glutinous (sweet) rice flour. I only have regular glutinous rice flour that is not like the usual "Mochiko sweet rice flour." Will the glutinous rice flour I have still work?

    hello! your recipe looks easy to do and the cake looks delicious, i want to make this one weekend but i dont have a cake pan, only 6 hole cupcake pan. if i use that, what would be the oven temperature and baking time? thanks in advance! :)

  • @SpoonfulPassion

    @SpoonfulPassion

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Kate, please use the same oven temperature. You can test the doneness by inserting a toothpick in the cake center and it should come out clean without any wet batter. :)

    @@SpoonfulPassion okay so same time and temp, thank you! also would like to ask again, i also plan to make a dairy free version by using non-dairy milk and vegan butter or veg oil, but im having trouble looking for a non dairy substitute for the heavy cream. can i omit the heavy whipping cream or is it necessary for the cake texture? thank you!

  • @SpoonfulPassion

    @SpoonfulPassion

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@kal_xiv yes same temp but baking time might be less. Just have to test if it’s done using the toothpick method. The heavy cream can be sub with coconut milk or any other plant-based milk that is creamy. 🙂

  • @SpoonfulPassion

    @SpoonfulPassion

    3 жыл бұрын

    Might take less than 50 minutes bcos the cake is thinner. It's done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
