Making Beef Jerky From Gound Beef!

The Judge - Beef Jerky Gun: amzn.to/3H16E2Q
Leggs - Jerky Seasoning: amzn.to/3karC5q
Making Beef Jerky from ground beef is not that hard to do. You can do it in the oven or in a dehydrator if you have one. We prefer the texture of ground beef jerky to sliced whole muscle but its a personal preference. If you are going to make beef jerky using ground beef then you are going to need a jerky gun, we use The Judge and it works great!
Leggs brand jerky seasoning is also a great choice if you do not have a recipe for your own seasoning.
Enjoy!

I vacuum seal a couple days worth per bag and put into the chest freezer. Pull it out and it thaws quickly...so fattier sticks last longer

if using the oven method, open the door to the 1st notch position. and decrease the temperature to 160-165. I've had great results in about 4-5 hours and I live 45 minutes northwest of Houston Texas. And using a rack on top of pan lets the fat drip off and you don't have to flip the meat, but you do want to wipe or drain the fat about half way through around 2-3 hours.

I just thought of an alternative if you don't have access to such a piston gun system and that is to use the sausage cassing attachment on your meat grinder and use the auger worm WITHOUT the cutting blade.

That looks like a pretty simple way to make that! Yeah unless you were making 30-40 pounds around here there would be no need to go lower than 20% fat because that never lasts long around my son! Especially if it was made out of venison!

Hey Mike, I was thinking, if you baked the ground meat beef jerky to 200 F then you should not need to use sodium nitrate (hog bait) because ground beef (hamburger) is fully cooked at 160 F. I am reluctant to use sodium nitrate because it is poison. If you ingest few grams it can kill you. I wonder if you knew that in Texas and southeast sodium nitrate pellet bait is used to control feral hog population. Sodium nitrite is a powerful oxidizing agent that causes hypotension and limits oxygen transport and delivery in the body through the formation of methemoglobin. Sodium nitrate could increase your heart disease risk. It’s thought that sodium nitrate may damage your blood vessels, making your arteries more likely to harden and narrow, leading to heart disease.

Sorry, but the thought of using ground beef to make jerky is a no-no with me. I'm still here for the Boo's. I had a Sears Kenmore microwave oven that had a dehydrate function. The only thing I used it for to dehydrate was banana and pineapple slices. I've always used a low smoke on a wood grill to make jerky. Getting ready for the wave of new American's coming to my area.
