Homemade Beef Jerky, 5 Tips For Using A Dehydrator To Make Beef Jerky At Home

Ойын-сауық

Stop paying ridiculous prices at the grocery store for some chemical infested 3.5 ounce bag of beef jerky. Using this inexpensive dehydrator, I make over a pound at a time and it comes out tasting even better. And each batch costs me only about $8-$12.

Another tip: when you are getting ready to snack on them, bake / air fry for about 5-7 minutes for 350, or until it’s a little crispy. It will bring out the flavor even more and make them a little crispier 😊 Thank you for the video and the tips!

I know o had too much mewt but i had let it go for about 8-10 hours to make sure it all dehydrated, it came out like the way yours did (of course i didnt do all the tips you showed so probabaly not as good turnout) but for the first time it was amazing!!! My family and i chowed it all down and loved it, thank you bro for this video and knowledge 🙏 i cant tell you how much of a beef jerky fanatic i am 😂 now im gonna be saving stackkks!

Thanks for the tips. I’m using venison I harvested a few days ago. Seasoning is Cabelas peppered jerky making kit. Marinated for 12 hrs in zip lock bag. I used a 1 lb kit for 5 lbs of meat because this is strong stuff. I’ve made jerky last year in the oven and it was good but strong flavored. I’m gonna try to pat the meat down with paper towel in this dehydrator. 👍🏻

Makes sense about the room temperature. I just got the same hydrator the other day and tomorrow I plan on dehydrating raw eggs to make powdered eggs. But yeah - I'll let the eggs go room temperature before starting the process. No one else Ive heard on dehydrating never mentioned having the meats or other food items at room temperature. I'm glad I checked out your video before I do any jerky. Thank you!

I use the leanest(97% lean) ground beef for jerky. Once marinated, I roll it out to 1/4" thick strips or rounds and then dehydrate. Cool it to room temperature and then vacuum seal it with oxygen eliminators. It will last a long time, even without refrigeration. One of the keys to extending shelf life is to use curing salt instead of regular table salt. For smoke flavor, either add some liquid smoke, or better yet, use a smoker on low for about an hour or two before dehydrating.

I also use ground beef sometimes. I premix well by hand to make it a bit stringy. Works great. I bought a large dehydrator. I like the better temperature choices and the larger volume. I make jerky treaties for my dog of only natural meats since I felt the expensive store-bought got her hooked on whatever drugs they must add. She had gotten quite sick, and I said No more. I used to overcook mine now for 5-6 hours only and then into the fridge. I was looking at the cost of the 4oz bags here, and a lb would cost me $35; that is crazy. I know what is in mine, and if you have a steady hand, you do not have to use a meat slicer. Enjoy

a pound of homemade jerky would cost around $32. 4 lbs of meat at $7 and $4 for spices plus electricity. i like teriyaki jerky so my ingredients are: soy sauce (regular and teriyaki), brown sugar, and lemon. marinate for 8 -12 hrs. do not pat dry the beef before dehydrating. set dehydrator between 135 -145 and flip the meat after 4 hrs to prevent sticking. total cooking time is between 6 - 12 hrs depending on the thickness. if you do it in the kitchen, the whole house will smell jerky. i do mine in the utility room where there is an exhaust fan. use ziplock and refrigerate afterwards.

I use bolar blade roast. freeze it overnight. Trim the top fat while it's frozen, cut it with the grain into strips when it's half thawed. Try 5 parts bbq sauce, 2 part Worcestershire, 1 part siracha, 1 part honey or golden syrup, fine cracked black pepper, ground white pepper, coarse ground sea salt for hot & sweet BBQ flavour. if you do a 2 day marinade you'll find the honey breaks down the fibres in the meat for a softer texture.
