Making An Oak Table Frame For The Plywood Table Top - Part 2 of 2

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Part 1: • Making A Plywood End G...
Woodwork video. In this video I make a frame for the plywood end grain tabletop that I made in the previous video. I used oak to make the frame and bridle joints to assemble. I also add an oak veneered plywood shelf.

Great project! The use of the plywood scraps give us beginners a way to start without worrying about wood varieties as well as costs. Your “screw-up” on the first bridal joints gave us hope realizing things need not be “perfect” to be beautiful. I think I’ll try the project with a thinner version of the top for the shelf. And also, thank god you’re doing this on everyday tools and not the $50,000 set-ups in so many (albeit great) woodworking channels. Thanks for your work to produce these videos!

Beautiful result. Thanks for sharing. In fact you have one of the best woodworking channels. Some reasons why I think that: 1/ You are not a professional woodworker, you don't do this full-time but next to your job 2/ You have a small shop compared to other woodworkers 3/ You have less and less expensive power tools than most other woodworkers 4/ You (nearly) only use salvaged wood and other materials 5/ You are very inventive 6/ Your videos are of a good quality and you explain everything very well

i agree with everything except about the less and less expensive tools. they might not be the most expensive but he's got everything he needs. that's important. just my view.

Also, he is neither arrogant nor conceited, will admit he made a mistake or miscalculated, but always comes up with an appropriate fix. Other channels edit out mistakes, do do-overs and pretend they got it perfect first time.

Love the video, great explanations, I love the use of the plywood scraps to make a fantastic top. Not mad on the finished table, but I think that is a personal taste thing not a comment on your video or end product. Keep up the good work.

OK, I'm a rank amateur hobbyist, so this more a question of "Why couldn't you" than a suggestion If you mark all the pieces exactly the same - When you're cutting the mortices, you put the blade on the inside of the line - then when you're doing the tenons, put the blade outside the line Wouldn't that give you the kerf width extra instead of having to do all that thing with the calibers or saw blade? Please be gentle explaining to me why this is a dumb idea never comment again :)
