Nice work. I love the combination of turned stitching and unturned stitching. I'm currently working on the ideal length of the cutout for the proper shape of the bag. What I have ascertained is that one side of the cutout needs to be 5mm-7mm longer to get the necessary overlapping for unturned stitching.

Beautiful work! Quick question - what size zipper are you using? I just bought a #10 zipper and it seems way too big. Thanks!

I just purchased this pattern and am part way through it. First time making something like this, so forgive the possibly dumb question: how do you stitch the second half of the zipper once you have done the first? Since the leather is folded around to the other side and the zipper is a closed on one end, there isn’t really a way to lay it flat and punch the stitch line like with the first half. This was the only thing I didn’t see in the video, the rest of it was very clear.

Hey there Erin! There are no dumb question don’t worry! In order to stitch the second half of the zipper, you first glue the zipper to the leather and then the trick is to place an object inside the dopp kit so that you can punch the holes, and next you will need to stitch that together. I hope I was clear, you can write me at hello@ateliergrinda.com or through instagram (@ateliergrinda) if you need further help, have a lovely day!

For sure canvas would work! I would probably keep the thickness under 2.00mm or 2.0 mm 5/64" inches
