Wow it’s 2023 and I only now find this video! Thank you very much for these lessons. Very good clear and easy to understand instructions. I have been trying to work out how to use contrast pipeing and here you make it so easy ! Thank you so much I made my first small purse with piped seams and it was your voice and video that helped me understand how to do it. Thank you. 😊
Solid video! 10 mins to cover 3 nice techniques with enough info. Well done!

You make it look so easy: That Piping method is genius...... why didn't think of that???
That second method you used is very interesting ~ I will have to test this a few times to see if I can manage it ~ Thank you for showing me!

He did the second method wrong. Don't do it that way, it won't be able to have much load bearing capacity.
How about doing a video on different methods of installing zippers? Thanks

Ya i did laurn something, as the piping one gives me an idea as to how i can ad a pipe along the top portion of my saddlebag leather panels that i tooled and added to the saddlebags lit flap ,how to make the piping ,as there is a gap between the lid flap and the panel that dirt can get in ,as my Chicago screws dont make the 2 pieces tight enough,. hmm hope that came out right .lol

When using the third technique how do you prevent the stitched area from creating a "ridge" on the outside of the bag? I have made a bag using this gusset style and you can see where the gusset lays on the inside ( from the outside) it kind of pushes the outside leather.
Good!!!!
Super! If possible, could you please show a photo of situations (bags) in which each gusset is used…? Thnx from beginner.

You could go on shopping sites and observe bags on there :) I use Netaporter, Shopbop and Matches !
@Theleathercraftacademy, what types of leather and weights are best for a nice flexible gusset? I want to add a gusset to a 3oz pocket protector. Thx :D
Merci beaucoup...

De rien !
I find that when stiching gussets that have a large curve in the corners, the holes on the front panel begins to deviate alignment from the gusset holes. I'm trying to discover a technique to regain hole alignment.
What thickness leather do you use?
What thread are you using?
You know you are absolutely awesome right??????
@Theleathercraftacademy
I will try for sure the stripe construction (my fav I think.) and the piping. 😊 Thank you. But normally I saw at 3mm from the edges and also with stitches from 3/4mm it could be a problem? 🤔
@Theleathercraftacademy
Hi, that should be ok, I stitch 2.5 from the edge. 0.5 mm won't make a huge difference.

@@Theleathercraftacademy Thank you. 😊

Wonderful tutorial! What type of glue is that? Where do I buy it?
@Theleathercraftacademy

Contact adhesive, you can get it from any DIY store !

It's called Saddle Stitching. There is a great tutorial on it by Don Gonzales, he's a saddle maker who gives online tutorials like this.
Good!!
woooooow
👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
So, sometimes when I saddle stitch, the second needle will go through the line that is already in the hole. How do I avoid this??
@Theleathercraftacademy
Yes, if I understand correctly what you are saying, I think using the first needle or an awl to guide the second needle you will solve this problem

@@Theleathercraftacademy so, the hole is too small for both needles or an Awl and a needle. I just don't pull it very far test it and undo if it happens. If it wears out Its close to the needle and I just redo the needle connection.
