Making An Ambient Track With Soma Laboratory Enner Only

Музыка

In this video I make a complete ambient track from scratch using the Soma Laboratory Enner synth as the only source of the sounds! Can this highly unusual synth deliver the goods? Let’s find out!
Also make sure to check out my review of Enner to learn more about the device • Soma Laboratory Enner:...

Hey Tony! :) I am really not that comment writing kinda guy, but I just want you to know that your videos have inspired and helped me greatly since I discovered your channel only a month or so ago! I recently started my own (somewhat experimental) techno project and your sheer productivity, challenges (10 Minutes etc.) and showcases of various plugins, synths etc. really affected the process (especially your productivity which I at the moment try to "replicate")! I really like your attitute towards music production, which (for me) makes it fun and exciting again (the production of my older music somewhat actually was a bit of a pain in the ass :D). Also I like your easy to watch and down-to-earth video-editing approach, which is a pleasant contrast to all these "glamourous", and (dare I say it) "overproduced" music production videos one can stumble upon on this website (which should not come across as if I don't like them, I just prefer your "cool and enthusiastic techno guy from the neighborhood"-kinda vibe :D) Long story short - and I apologies for writing this whole bunch of text: Thank you! :) I really appreciate your content, which of course does include your music itself also ;D! Keep up the good work, looking forward to your future adventures in sound! :) Greetings from Germany, Alex PS: As a sidenote: On the channel I am commenting rn there is no techno to be found, just my old stuff (strange experimental singer-songwriter kinda stuff), my techno stuff for now only can be found on bandcamp (Unter-Ordner) as I am still learning how this (to me) new genre works in a production sense :D

Hi Alex, you have no idea how cool it is to get this kind of comment! Thank you so much, I'm really glad that my stuff inspires you, it's what keeps me going. I have a lot of ideas for future videos, hopefully they will be interesting and inspiring as well. I am working to improve the production quality of my videos to broaden their appeal (some ppl are put off by poor video quality and especially poor sound) but I will try to make sure that things don't become too 'polished' ;-) As for the productivity aspect, I used to be very slow in producing music but that's all changed mostly through what I've learned from a coach for music producers called Mike Monday.. so if you're looking to improve the quantity (and as a result of that, quality) of your music I recommend you give him a look. BTW I'm checking out your Bandcamp right now; I'd say you're already pretty far along in understanding the Techno aesthetic! I especially like 'Verschwörungen'. So I would say the same thing to you that you said to me: keep up the good work! And thanks again for your kind words, Greetings from Aruba, Tony

@@Tony_Tyson Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lenghty and extensive reply! :) Especially as I was a bit worried about maybe overwhelming you with my wall of text (which I do tend to do sometimes when chatting with others 😅) I'm sure your future stuff will be as interesting as ever! :) ...not least since you always find something fresh and exciting to showcase - like in this instance "reactivating" some gear you did not use for quite a while (and what some wild gear it is :D!) Yeah, I noticed that you over the time really took - and still take - some serious efforts to make your videos more appealing: Like in this video the new approach to lightning (which somehow creates a whole new layer of atmosphere, so to speak of) or the subtle camera movements in the otherwise static shots of you talking. That's really nice to see, even more sore as it is true that some of your older videos are a bit rough around the edges (e.g. in terms of audio mix/quality (sometimes as an example your voice was a bit quiet)), which I personally don't mind too much. Anyway, I think by the looks of it you are really close to finding a sweet spot in video production that works for you! :) Oh yeah, funnily enough after writing my inital comment I browsed to your back catalogue of videos and stumbled across a mysterious titled video concerning the "Mike Riser" ;D. As I was curious what that would even mean I already encountered you talking about Mike Monday :D. As I quickly checked his website out one thing he wrote there somewhere got stuck in my head already: You dont't improve to release music, you release music to improve - I think that's really inspiring. In any case really thank you for the tip! :) I have to look a bit deeper into this. And I really, really appreciate that you chose to give my stuff a listen! Thank you very, very much, I'm honoured! :) Especially since you had those nice things to say about it (I myself also like "Verschwörungen" (and "Diskussionen") the best ;D)! Thank you! I'm already working on a follow-up to keep the ball rolling, experimenting for the first time with a little plugin you used here and there called microtonic ;). I have one last thing to ask (or rather to recommend to you): Since you have the SOMA Enner, maybe you also like the SOMA Rumble of Ancient Times? It should be right up your alley with its chaos feature and general crazyness... I used it for example for the bass and the guitar-like lead sound in "Verschwörungen" :D Maybe you can take a look :) I'm sorry that I bombarded you again with all this text, It's hard for me to stop myself sometimes 😅! Don't feel obligated to write me back, I'm sure you have plenty of stuff to do - just wanted to respond to your kind reply and build a little on it :). Anyway, have a nice day! :)
