But seriously, she has this tendency to minimize her work. It's becoming grating. She can literally sew and make almost anything and she still can't say it's amazing. I paused at the bit where she said she's a dollar store version of people on Face Off. Women do this kind of shxt all the time and I can't stand it anymore.

Hahaha I’m gunna make this reference to people when they are struggling and no one will understand why I’m yelling such a comforting phrase with such authority.

I adore the fact that while everyone else is using generators for phones, lights and maybe small appliances, you used yours to run a sewing machine. That's dedication. The puffed sleeves are fabulous! Great job! Happy Halloween!

Hot tip for someone who was without an iron and desperately needed one: heating a flat bottomed pot or pan with a bit of water in it and then using it as you would an iron. Works surprisingly well! Of course, only really works if you have a gas range or a gloriously large fireplace haha

I must say, Rachel's version of the "person slowly goes mad after a series of never-ending setbacks" storyline is much more classy and civilized than Stephen King's. Jack Torrance could NEVER.

The fact that you just kept going with this project even without power to your house is amazing. You’re so committed to this work and I’m so proud of you!

If you’re ever stuck for an iron, hair straighteners are lover powered and work well for small areas near edges! It’s saved me many times at work or when traveling!

@@ahhh4117 if the director gave me an open budget and time then I would make a live cast of whoever’s wearing the mask (if I didn’t have one) then sculpt the mask and cast that as well. Then smush the two together the make the negative mold. Thankfully the main two directors I work for usually give me decent time and money. But I have worked for a few that want you to take a 2-3 week process and cut it down to a matter of days and with less then half the budget and supplies. But I like being creative so I don’t mind too too much.

1. So proud of you for doing so much with no power! Seriously impressive. 2. Ballon sleeves are life, more balloon sleeves! I loved seeing the crazy amount of fabric that goes into them lol 3. We love the references! 4. I'm just so proud because I've been watching your channel for a loooong time and seeing how much more confident you are with sewing and how good you've gotten???? Like??? Amazing. 5. I teach 8th grade and those teens at the end would've gotten a Look from me.

This is our family’s favorite video you have ever done. My wife is very impressed that you matched up the stripes on the bodice. My daughter is impressed with your sense of humor under stress. Know that you’re inspiring a generation as to how to handle disaster. Happy spooky time.

The last time I got heckled by teens about my Halloween mask, I said "Your face." They were butthurt, but the older gentleman nearby laughed himself onto a bench.

That would have been a good comeback but "none ya business" worked well, too! After all, it must be difficult to sling a good come-back while dancing through the cemetery in a puffy-sleeve femininized version of Jack Skeffington while directing your husband as he films you. A fantastic costume, you'll be the toast of all Halloween parties!

Love the Sassy Skellington Rachel! I would've just turned toward those teenagers very slowly and said "What mask?"

I absolutely love the disheveled Rachel at the end. Your energy is the embodiment of all of us makers and sewists when we pull off a successful project! The Happiest of Halloweens to you!

That clip of Schmidt from New Girl absolutely sent me - “Youths!” - I was dying laughing, crying, wheezing, the silent rock back and forth while you hold your elbows and trying to compose myself enough to explain to my husband what was going on only to continue lapsing into fits of cackling hysterics at the hilarity of explaining what you were doing, what the hecklers were saying and the clip of Schmidt. I love how, living about an hour north, I can pretty much guess what gets filmed on what day by the weather in the background... also, now I kinda want to see Rachel use that mask to do a take on Skeletor (mostly 'cause I think she's do a good impression of him...)

Hey, you know that when you're feeling overwhelmed its also very okay not to post and that If you feel you have to post something to feed the algorithm, I'd also be happy to watch a one take of your cat running around or something. My wife watches your work religiously and i just wanted to stop by and say that it was very cool, and brave, and important, and good that you were open like you were about some of the difficulties you were having during this project, and presented them in a way that underscores the fact that it's okay to process hard things in your own way, and that you don't need other peoples' permission to accomodate yourself as much as you need to get through it, regardless of the circumstances or the difficulty at-hand, and it wasn't something to be ashamed of. The dress/costuming was great, don't get me wrong, but that one quick aside was one of the most quietly powerful sequences i've seen in a create/reveal video, and i think it's going to affect a lot of people in a positive way. Bout to well up over here just thinking about it lol

I had so much sympathy for you and your struggles with keeping on a schedule through uncontrollable circumstances. You did amazing! I don't know if it takes less power than your iron, but I've used my hair straightener for emergency crafting /seam pressing when I ran out of flat surfaces to work on.

Still Halloween night where I live, and I'm consuming as much Halloween content as possible before its all over

This channel is so amazing! So cozy and interesting. Makes me wanna start sewing and crafts again.

Fun life hack for ironing without power, if you have a gas stove you can put a pot with a little water on heat for like 2 min then use the bottom of the pot to iron. I'd also recommend putting an old sheet or something down too in case your pot bottom is nasty.. no judgement.

I spent my Cape Cod nor'easter blackout contemplating the meaning of life... Reached no conclusion, but I'm glad someone used the best of their time!

The whole video had me smiling and was delightful (and relatable, I've had my share of stress related cries) but it was that Schmidt clip at the end that did me in. I laughed for a solid minute. Perfection.
