Making a stainless skinning knife with dovetailed bolsters
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Making a stainless drop point skinning knife with dovetailed bolsters and composite snakeskin themed scales.
We go through the whole process from start to finish starting with a bar of AEB-L stainless steel, profiling the
knife, heat treating and grinding the blade then making and installing the bolsters and handles.
Check out www.castingcrafts.com/ to get your custom themed knife scales.

Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa.... Real good looking knife that! Well done. As a bladesmith myself, I have never used any stainless. I just fell in love with carbon steels. Been collecting knives for 30+ years but bought my very 1st blade in AEB-L recently (folder) but will be a project knife and probably end up being a workshop knife. I will definitely be on the lookout for more of your videos. I love making and watching anything knife related. Take care and see you in the next one.

Thank you my friend. I’ve used just about every stainless out there over the past 35 years. I loved ATS-34 and now it’s extremely hard to find. I settled on AEB-L several years ago because I found it to be a good all around middle of the road stainless steel. It’s a hidden gem in my opinion. I also like CPM 154. I primarily make forged high carbon blades and Damascus steel but I also continue to make stainless blades. Thanks for watching! 🙂

Excellent! I just did a dovetail bolster on a knife that has a profile almost exactly like that. I like that press for the pins! And I like your use of CA Glue.

Excellent video my friend. You show all the steps involved with making a hand crafted knife. Hopefully this will enlighten some folks who question the cost of such a skillfully crafted tool. Great work and information as always. Good job boss.

Thank you my friend. Yes as long as you use the same steel for the pins as the bolsters, you can’t see them. 🙂

Thank you my friend. It’s just a personal preference for me. I’ve used just about all of them. Most of them are about the same but I find AEB-L just a good all around steel. I really like using it. 🙂

Sir beautiful work what price do you have on this knife
@TonySeverioKnives
3 ай бұрын
@johnthacker5171 thanks! It depends on handle material. This knife was ordered almost two years ago. They can range from 450 and up depending on the handle material. However I’m not taking orders at this time. When I do I will announce on my website. Same name dot com. Thanks!
I saw you used the new Norton RazorStar, How did they hold up? Did you like it? Do you think there're worth the price?
