I love your videos and your style of explaining things. I’d love to see more jazz composing sample libraries using the tools of your choice. And now straight to the Sanjay C video, one of my favourite musicians here on KZread.
Jef, your passion really shows in this video (very few edits) a stream of ideas expertly explained! 😄
Really nice walkthr, subbed! And your wife sounds great!

Superb
This is great. I’d love to know the best libraries for recreating the mid-'60s to mid-'70s KPM & De Wolfe library sound from the likes of Keith Mansfield, Syd Dale, Alan Hawksworth etc.
Another outstanding video dude.. Your style is amazing.. I figure you have a jazz background and man, I wish I knew how to play the keys like you bro.. That song you made with young lady with the jazz neo soul feel.. OH MY GOODNESS..... I want to bump that in the car.. lol.. Great work Jeff.. You really taught me a lot how to work Machine.. Thank you man..

I loved this video! And the Noir Video, I must have watched about 7 times. I thought you said you were going to revisit Noir. Discovered Project Sam recently but their plugins are a little costly. After I get my M1 laptop then a Project Sam bundle. Thanks for this video.
Just got done watching some Big Band Theory. Good show.
Nice video. The music was really well done to capture that style. Man these kontakt sound libraries sound so good. But wow the cost. But they will never sound old.

YES TUTORIAL PLZ! :DDD
One thing missing from Maschine - custom chord sets. This is great for a guy like me who never had any music education. My knowledge of chords are cowboy guitar shapes. Would like a midi plug-in that does this - without the band instruments.
Nice tutorial. I've had Swing! and Swing More! for a while in my library but have not used it yet. Hopefully soon when I have more time. It is a really great library. I would still try to make something fun for example like the song: Doop (Sidney Berlin's Ragtime Band Extended Version).

Amazing video Jef! please do more stuff on bigband :) BTW the stylus is audio loops right? so on what instrument channel you played them?
This video inspired me to buy the Swing/Swing More bundle. The results I'm getting are far less spectacular than yours. Either you're really good at this, or I royally suck at it. More than likely a combination of both. 🤣
Fantastic content as always. Would love to see a video on how do you manage your sound/sample libraries. I am sure you have terrabytes of content - how do you organize, and find the sounds that are just right? Same goes for your plugins (Instruments and effects alike) - i am having information overload syndrome...

INSPIRING... Hi Jeff! This episode with Sanjay C is so amazing. In regards to the interview the sound and picture quality is excellent (just as good as an interview on network television). However, I do realize that both you and Sanjay C do this on what appears to be a professional level. The point I am making is that if everyone had the same (or similar equipment) as you two no one would have to leave their homes for an interview. Technology has made it possible to communicate and collaborate with people all over the world. ONE QUESTION: Did you guys share video from both cameras at each location to get such a beautiful edit? Again, loved your interview. -JRC!

There are hardly any KZread videos on creating big band and jazz style tracks with sample libraries so I would love one on Swing More (it has been a potential purchase for some time)
@jefgibbons
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark! It was a purchase I was blown away by.
I've wanted to buy the swing and swing more libraries for years, but I'm not a professional media composer, and that makes it very hard to justify the investment. You just nudged me a tad closer though. Btw, I keep thinking you're wearing a safety vest because of those orange stripes, and I think you should run with that for a future episode: put on a helmet and a tool belt and do some music for an imaginary commercial for children's sandbox toys or something 😊
Love ProjectSam stuff. I could almost uninstall all my other libraries.
Wonderful video! Is Swing More compatible with Pro Tools?
as a Big Band arranger and teacher this stuff depresses me a little. in its genesis, the composers for those kinda movies in the 40-50 where writing out everything in music paper, then orchestrating and then recording it. even Quincy Jones and John Williams would write every note out. wouldn’t be more honest if we would just spend the time learning how to write for big band, exporting the midi file from finale or sibelius to cubase/logic and making it sound properly from there?
Dude you should talk about your history more!! Great work!

There's a ton more dedicated big band packs out there but nobody knows if they're good or not because they cost more than $2000 and all you have to go off of is a random endorsement by john soundtrack.
I love swing but for me there isn't enough consistently across the articulations for example in the solo stuff they don't already have the crec option and the legato isn't as nice as you would expect from the real thing. If you haven't got it already check out vhorns check those out.

Yeah it’s not that good
hi Jef,i realy love big band music,i listened to a lot of them,Glenn Miller,Gene Krupa, Benny Goodman, etc,i'm 59,so i heard a lot of music of the past,to be honnest,i like it more then the music of today,EDM, RAP, etc does nothing for me,i also find it more like noise than music my music collection spans over the 40s-50s-60s-70s -80S,and a little bit of the 90s,after these years music took a fall, and it all sounds alike, selena gomez, taylor swift and ariana grande, they all sound the same, sad, thats why i turn to the past for music,or movie scores
