This was a a great challenge making a project with the router as the main tool. It was definitely experimental and I was never quite sure about it, let me know what you think.
Make sure to check out Kyle Toth's videos, here's a link to one where he uses his pattern like the one I used in this video • Round Pedestal Dining ...

The patience of this man...
I saw the thumbnail and thought "wow, I wonder how he got such a nice organic design... that would be really hard to do " and it turns out you just did a lot of hard work. Kudos!
It’s like watching Hercules performing one of his 12 labors! Your sheer grit and patience are amazing. Well done as always!
I love the "that's enough of that nonsense" delivered in an almost deadpan fashion
I have no words to describe your work. What a kind of patience you’ve got…really well done Neil
🐼 Big Bear Hugs from a 68 yr old grandma in Kirby, Texas, USA 🐼 ❤ 🎀 ❤ 🎀
When you click like even though the video hasn’t started because you already know it’s going to be good! 😂😂😂
His hard work paid off. Very nice
Thought it was amazing and beautiful, so I made one for my dining room, only about two thirds the size. Keep inspiring all of your viewers.
This is insanely gorgeous! Again I'm in awe of your detail skills
I think the glass globe is what turns this fixture into an art piece. 💖🌞🌵😷
Always love a Scrapwood Challenge
The child inside is alive! Couldn’t resist the domino drop. Love your work 👍
Videos like this make me want to run out to my wood shop and create!
"nonsense"? Hogwash! I love the quirks sprinkled into the videos of just having fun. Thanks Neil!
Instead of doing rings all the way it would be cool to make one where you just have a top and bottom ring joined by some pieces of wood and then gluing japanese washi paper on the inside, then you get the diffusion built in.

I like that idea.
Wow! I literally need a nap after watching this! Lol. It really turned out beautiful though! You have the patience of Job. 😂
Another incredible result. You know, there are probably places in the world where they torture people by making them do tasks like you choose to do in your creativity! So patient! Thanks for sharing!
Truly an amazing peice of art Neil.
Only slightly 150% tedious! Your patience is a marvel sir.
Always impressed by your patience with that repetitive stuff.
A craftsman creates for utility, for the challenge and for the monetary gain their work gives them. A true artist creates for the love of the creation. We all know what an excellent craftsman you are, but you are more of a true artist for you love your craft for its own sake.
Respect from India! I would buy this any day for my dinning table!
Scrap wood challenge song never gets old!
Awesome move trimming the tape with the marking gauge! Genius!
One of my favorite theme songs ever. 😁
Now that's something to be proud off, very well done.
I’m impressed with the method of applying finish to the sides. Nice looking piece.
What a beautiful project it looks really great.....where is my scrapwood !!
Suitable for your dining room. Nice job.
Holy s….? On two topics. 1. What a beautiful peace of art. 2. What a bunch of work and patience. Thank you 🙏
With all of your skills, it's pretty fun that you are hiring an electrician to move the light fixture.
Neil, you have the patience of a saint and the skill of a true artisan craftsman. 👍
I'm really glad that you did not have a plunge router. Your unintended result is a much better design in that it reveals light angles instead of the way it would've been. Very nice touch. Enjoyed you for many years now hope to keep going. You are a master artist!
7:14 the ring on itself is already a very impressive build!!
You, are a bloomin genius mate.
Wow, that's really cool! Thanks for sharing...thumbs up.
A Beautiful creation 👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing. Be safe 🇨🇦
It looks good. I think your scrapwood challenge is the best series on KZread.
LMAAAOOOOO! This is my first time watching a video from your channel and that opening "song" had me rolling!!! So I'm staying for the rest of the video. LOL!!!
Awesome, I've been waiting for a Scrape Wood Challenge. 👍👍
Wow, that's awesome and beautiful. Your skill level is out this world
Absolutely beautiful Pasko. Torn between it looking like animal print or honeycomb. Either way a tremendous outcome well done.
It is a piece of art. Love your creations. Thanks for the vids
I really enjoy the Scrapwood Challenge videos in general. I think this is among my favorite of them. Lots of interesting techniques involved and the finished project is quit beautiful.
I love the random organic look contrasting with the straight lines of the frame! I want to do this project, but 8 hours to router out the random holes...ouch. Even sitting down, not sure my back (or my patience) would be up for that 😂
A great job, it was great, very well done, a huge hug from my humble Uruguayan channel💪👍🇺🇾
that looks awesome, it looks great in your shop and it'll look just as good in your house
Beautiful and very crafty design/execution. You've already convinced me, Neil, there's no such thing as 'scrap-wood'!

@@PaskMakes if I made it , you’d need to take the “s” off the scrap !
HOLEY Moses! And wholly enjoyable!
This project is awesome of course. And so is the fact that he has 587 mini “A” clamps. Part of me is thinking this lamp was made to justify the purchase of so many clamps. 😉
There's a handful of very useful experience earned tips in this video. Many thanks for the build and the tips.
8 months later I'm commenting. It's amazing what can be done with scrap wood and imagination. The lamp shade is incredible, amazing. You asked us to comment, here ya go. Some kind of sheer cloth material stretched across the bottom like a drum skin to hide the light bulb, it might accentuate to fine detail of the fine wood.
Wasn't sure how this was going to end, but I really like it and the darker areas of the Camphor Laurel add another nice feature. It's a thumbs up from me, I would gladly hang this from the V-jointed pine cathedral ceiling which is 5m above FFL at the dining table.
Looks fantastic Paso, you have a great talent.
You are an Artist! You make things with perfection.. love your work!! In future would love to see your new version of bandsaw.. maybe with scrap wood..?
Beautiful, creative, brilliant and wise - I love “Pask makes” creations - thank you!
Great job!! Australia, wonderfull country and good people!!
Very nice. You're incredibly meticulous! Well done.💡
You have the patience of Job. Things of real value are never come by easy. Excellent work.
That's a stunning and beautiful piece of work.
I learn so much while being entertained, regards from the US East Coast
The holes look spectacular!
Definitively, a Kyle Toth's inspiration.
Once you get this installed, look up at the ceiling and see what kind of shadow the grid holding the bulb makes on the ceiling. You might consider something more interesting than just a plain grid. But that's another project. 💖🌞🌵😷
So unique! Love it. One Handed Maker
The shade is awesome. Amazingly made. I would have used a few ornamental LED bulbs rather than a glaring incandescent one. That shade deserves more than that bulb.
I think it looks great - very natural as if you were a bark beetle gnawing away for sustenance
Beautiful work Neil. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome Job Neil.... every time ...
Very Unique, Neil. Great job.
The result is extraordinary and uniquely beautiful, but wow - you sure put a lot of work into this project.
I think it’s stunning!
What a beautiful idea! You are a genius!
Insane amount of work, but it looks great. Well done!
MY RESPECTS 👍 BEAUTIFUL WORK 💪 GOD BLESS YOU ❤
A great example that proves the rule: "You can never have too many clamps" ;)
Some day you will run out of camphor laurel scraps, and then we will all be greatly disappointed. 😁 It's a really visually interesting piece, certainly a beast to make with all the repetitive work, but you've already shown that you have the patience of a monk. I don't know how Kyle Toth does it either. Thanks for sharing!
Neil, that is a really smart looking shade. It was an ENORMOUS amount of work but, the results speak for themselves! Good on ya!
Your sparky is his first name Neil, as always great work. Cheers
It always amazes me how you manage to be so patient with this tedious and time consuming work. Well done! What is the trick? Liking what you do or is the focus laying on the result? I get quickly impatient with such tasks. Regards, Etna.

By my experience: Love or enjoyment is one part. The other is practice. Do it more often and it won't hurt you as much. As you get better, it becomes fun.

in other videos he says he'll just listen to a podcast through earebuds, you can see he's wearing earbuds while routing, as you can buy "ear defender" type earbuds that have noise cancelling properties to counter the sound of the router.
Sehr Sehr Tolle Idee mit den Lampenschirm
This is art. ❤❤❤
I love the scrapwood challenges!!! And this is beautiful!!!
That’s a bloody amazing job!! Loved it!!
Neil another beautiful project this is a million dollar lamp thanks for sharing all the way from Mexico
You're a true artist Neil, never ceases to amaze me with the ideas and executions of your projects!
I really like your vids, for me you are the Bob Ross of woodworking. Greetings from germany
love the video. its nice to see something other than the standard furniture
The intro is a banger
That's come out fantastic, lovely job.
Very beautiful! What a piece of art!
The light is whimsical and attractive. Thanks for another great project
I love it! Super cool and beautiful! I also learned some new things in this video. Thanks Neil! I bet it is going to look fantastic in the dining room.
I love all your work sir everything is always so beautiful.
My god, this man has the patience of a saint or a monk. The result is incredibly beautiful. Ordered chaos.
Enjoyed it immensely
Great job and I wish I had just a small amount of your patience for making that pattern.
As always Neil, fantastic work. This is the only project of yours that I don’t like. It sets off trypophobia in me. All those holes make me really nervous! I couldn’t look at it while I was eating! 😂😂😂
