Kumiko and Vertical Garden Screen

This kumiko vertical garden screen project has been a fair amount of work and on top of that I decided to try out a different editing software. I picked up the editing fairly quickly but really struggled with the sound. I got there in the end and made it acceptable but I definitely need to improve on that. The software was Davinci Resolve which I really enjoyed using and even bought the paid version. I've had enough lately of Premiere Pro not responding and being generally poor in performance even though I have decent computer.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video!
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

The first half of the kzread.infoUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
It’s not the level of planning and thorough forethought that impresses me most. It’s the amount of hard work that doesn’t seem to bother you. Also I will not be showing my Mrs this video.

My best friend is a welder and blacksmith. A few months ago he forged a kumiko out of wrought-iron. The end result weighed over 600lbs and made his customer incredibly happy. Thanks for all the great videos. You are a true craftsman. These videos have lit a fire under me and encouraged me to do alot more wood working. Hoepfully i can make something as amazing and beautiful as that someday. Thanks again from Canada 🇨🇦

That is incredible Neil. You're a massive source of inspiration and knowledge - thank you for sharing. I always want to show my partner your videos, but I fear she will want me to mimic this one!
Wow...WOW. What an incredible transformation. Easily changed that eyesore corner into a real FEATURE. Well done mate.
The average person would have just put up some store-bought screens, maybe even just merely painted the tank. Instead, you make actual art. I'm always impressed with your work!

Fantastic! This is something that will last for decades with the way you've sealed and protected it.
@psidvicious

It really does look nice, but I think “decades” (plural) is a bit wishful. With some intermediate painting and resealing, it could last ‘A’ decade. 🤷♂️
@zacreed5855
3 жыл бұрын
@@psidvicious Why is that? From my perspective it is well sealed, the construction adhesive has a fairly small shear load, it's off the ground, and it's made of plywood which has relatively small movement as far as wood goes.
@psidvicious
3 жыл бұрын
@@zacreed5855 I’m not worried about it falling apart bcz it wasn’t built properly. He assembled it quite nicely in fact. The problem will be that it’s made from non-treated plywood. Water, even from just dew and condensation is going to lay in all those pockets, seep into the plywood layers and rot. All those ‘pockets’ are level areas where water will just sit. The intense sun exposure will break down the sealer surprisingly fast, accelerating the process. I didn’t mean to be hyper-critical. I think it’s a real cool piece of work and as a tradesman myself I can really appreciate the amount of work and thought that went into it. I was just trying to bring a little reality to the life expectancy of a piece like this, exposed to such harsh exterior conditions. Pressure treated material might double my prediction.
