Making a king size Sapele bed with hand carved rope molding and CNC cut panels and rails.

In this video I show how I made a king sized bed out of quarter sawn Sapele. I hand carved the top molding in a twisted rope pattern, and cut many of the other components on the CNC.

Outstanding. Carving that rope had to be grueling. I really like Sapele as well and have been using in furniture for several years now. I finished a large pedestal desk a few months ago that took over 6 months to complete so I know about the patience it takes to muscle through these kind of projects. I am sure your daughter will appreciate it even though it became a belated gift. I really like the balance you have in your videos of not just using your CNC but also the other traditional woodworking tools where they makes sense.

Wow! This is love. Only love for family can make such a wonderful gift. When I first saw it, I wondered if it was a spiral rope using CNC, As expected, it was a difficult issue. But what's more important is the skill of woodworking. It is a special skill to be able to use your knowledge to do the desired work smoothly. I think I got a lot of good influence from you. I was surprised to see the bed this time. It's very, very cool. I thought I would make it right away. But it seems too hard for me now. I had a good eye treat with a detailed explanation. Congratulations on your great work.^^

Holy heck! What a beautiful piece. That rope/braid carving is insanely good looking. I was hoping you did it with some CNC trickery (which I like), but instead, it was just a great deal of hard work (which I try to avoid) and skill (which I aspire to) :-).

Thank you. Believe me, I thought long and hard about how to do the rope on my CNC, but it was a no go.

@@kevinspencer9114 Nice. I have almost talked myself into adding a split unit in my garage two years in a row. I have a large fan that works pretty well until the humidity kicks in ( like today). I think I'll do it this fall.

@@kevinspencer9114 I was going to do one of those DIY 3 ton precharged mini splits units. I would be interested if you have those. I just have to get around to putting in my power disconnect.
