Great work. Only thing i would change is a piece of leather sandwiched in between the sheath along the part where the rivets are. Keeps the chance of the blade getting dull. If you had used thread, it would keep the threads from being cut.

Just a thought before applying oil to the handle or whatever protection you want to apply, if you get a fine mist spray bottle and just dampen the handle it will raise those fibers in the wood and then you can take some 320 grit to it then maybe even some 600 grit and the handle will be smoother than you can imagine and it really brings out a nice look for the wood when oiled up. Food for thought man, great job on the channel. I thoroughly enjoy the content you produce! Keep up the great work!

I like your mods overall. magic handle length for me is 16 inches, but most are much too short. Also, agree with the curve and recess of the heel. A lot, of those type hatchets are totally flat and parallell with the handle, which is extremely limiting for a multi-use tool. I've seen so many pointless and strictly art mods, that this is refreshing. Also, your handle isn't absurdly thick! Kudos. :) Cheers.

I love your work. I watched you modify a half-hatchet/carpenter's hatchet into a nice bushcraft axe and was hooked from there. I've spent many hours watching you make knives and sheaves and many other things since and have enjoyed every video! I myself have 13 yr old daughter that comes out into my shop with me regularly for projects and so I find it cool that your kids make sneaky little cameos. I've got a few old axes/hatchets to restore and a couple old half-hatchets that I'm going to attempt to modify like you did.

I really enjoy watching your videos. I'm a old tool guy myself. I have some if my Great-grandfathers tools from the late 1800s- early 1900s. They are still used, cared for and will never be modified. But, yard sales and flea markets are your friend. I have some axes, hatchets and knives that will be modified to fit a need. Thank you for the inspiration and keep up the great work. Oh yeah, ignore these negative guys that don't like your way. There's more than one way to skin and bbq a cat and they're all delicious. God bless and stay creative.

Hey Dustin, just wanted to say that I've really been enjoying your channel and have watched a heap of your videos. I've taken a lot of inspiration from your projects and love both the diversity of crafts and the attention to detail you put into each item. So much so, in fact, that I've just spent $100 on a bunch of tools from the workshop of an old local craftsman who moved on to the big old shop in the sky and I'm now working my way through them; restoring, upgrading and breathing new life into them using many techniques and tricks I've learned from your videos. Thanks man and keep up the great work!
