Shouldn't even wear it in contact with skin. Over time the sweat will activate the copper oxides in the stone and cause issues leading up to toxic shock. Edit and disclaimer: as said by Abhiwan, real malachite is toxic, however, @Patrick Adair Designs is using something called TruStone which is a body-safe resin made with minerals and dyes to emulate the look of real semi-precious stones (like malachite). You would be safe to wear the ring he makes here.

In the glass working industry, they have diamond drills that cut from both top & bottom at the same time, like a pair of scissors or a clamp closing. It stops the material blowing out around the edges at this did or, generally, the puck from breaking up or getting stuck in the bit. Might allow for thicker cuts too. I don't know if this would help or be a liability, but putting the gold in a freezer for a while (in a bag) would reduce it outside diameter, just enough to create an interference fit with the outer material which of course, if it was metal, could also be heated up to expand its internal diameter, thereby creating a tighter bond. That is how they get & hold valve seat rings into internal combustion engines. No idea how it would work with Trustone though. Your lathe's chuck or mandrel (?) seems to have a little runout. Nice work.

well even with the holesaw, it hsould have had a center drilled cut halfway flip then cut the other half, would have come out without the blowout, but he was turning it so it realy doesn't matter in this application.

@@ThreeTreeDog Understood, but you'd have to drill it all the way thru first. I don't know what the name is for one of those double sided drills (but I have used one). I'd guess they only make sense if you're using it a lot, & working on big sheets. I think if I was using a holesaw one-sidedly, I'd want to use a smooth pilot for accuracy, & not the typical drill in an arbor.

Really wanna experiment with true stone now :D Would really love to see a black granite/marble/stone-countertop material ring with a rose-gold inlay and a rose-gold inside :D I'm mentally picturing something akin to the Ember ring in terms of design (but obviously with rose gold rather than crushed stone) with the chamfered edges, or even the Frostbite ring with the hammered edges (that would look pretty badass :D of the two I'd love to see the hammered edges in the stone rather than chamfer xD)

@@piplup10203854 Gold and platinum are hypoallergenic, so I doubt you'd have a reaction. If you're really that sensitive though, you should go with platinum. Gold is too soft to use in jewelry on its own, so its always mixed with copper to create the karats. Most platinum out there is 95% pure platinum because it's harder than gold. It's also heavier. Also, when gold is scratched, it loses a bit of material, but when platinum is scratched, the metal is just displaced. Neither metal can be dissolved in a single acid either. There's a few little facts.
