This is so beautiful. Something about it makes it look so much more modern than it really is. I think it's the contrast gold buttons against the white tweed along with the strong geometric style lines, it's giving Olivier Rousteing's Balmain.

Since you asked - the first thing that I thought when I saw the dress on, you was oh my it would’ve looked so much better with covered buttons in the tweed. The metallic buttons tend to make it look more like a military style outfit. The elegance of the pearl encrusted tweed might be better with tweed covered buttons as well. You’re an amazing seamstress. I wish I was your petite size so I could buy patterns off the shelf. I always have to alter things and it’s really a pain. Bravo to you for such beautiful construction.

_Chalk tip_ - Somewhere on Etsy there was a maker in Germany who used to make plastic tailor's chalk sharpeners. The thing is brilliant. Saves so much time. There are also really beautiful, really, really expensive versions of them used by tailors on Savill Road. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

I wore an Oleg Cassini for my wedding, so I know what you mean about those dresses. My mom bought it for me and then my first wedding didn’t happen. I saved that dress and 5 years later got to wear it. I tried on other dresses just to see if I wanted to start fresh but no… nothing came close to that Oleg Cassini. Your Cassini is stunning. So gorgeous. I like the gold, too!

Thank you most of it was done before I got sick. I was saving the buttons for when my husband got back from a business trip, but by then I was sick 😂. The voice over was the worst part because it hurt to talk

My mom made this dress for herself in many ways. I would sit with her in the sewing room and play with a big tin of buttons. Unfortunately my sister didn't know the value of the buttons and gave them away. Oleg Cassini patterns were my Moms favorite. She always looked top notch.

This dress is very sophisticated and elegant, and you wear it so well. I'm not sure about the buttons. In gold, they definitely become the star of the show. If you used covered buttons, I think the silhouette would be the star of the show.
