Making video games can be really tough. But thanks to cool game engines like Scratch, it's incredibly simple. It uses a high-level, visual scripting language to help teach kids and adults how to program. And honestly, it's perfect for people who are asking the question "How to learn how to program?" or "How to make video games". And after my last programming video using C++, let's see just how easy Scratch MIT is to use.

Although scratch may appear limiting at first glance, I can assure you, if you know what you're doing, it isn't. Some very smart people have programmed entire 3d rendering engines, rigidbody physics, softbody physics, raytracers, and more all within scratch.

I dont like when people talk about scratch like its a tool to make trash. Because its like a brush: use it badly, you'll make trash, use it well, youll make a masterpiece. Same with scratch.

FR,, looking at scratch now I scream internally every time I see one. I rarely play them. I miss playing old warrior cat games haha
Every time I hear about creating your own game I just start thinking of the possibilities of what I can do vs my willingness to do it.
Ah, scratch. I used to remember using it for the first time and I couldn't figure it all out. Nice to see new people interested in it :)!
I've waited for this video for such a long time! It turned out amazing!
im so happy you did a video on scratch. I remember disliking scratch because its a website "for 6yrs". I gave scratch a shot over quarentine because i didnt know anythng about game engines and had no other options. I fell in love with the simple yet limitless engine. i saw some incredible projects on scratch and had my mind completely blown. scratch has taught me that problems doesnt have to be solved the traditional way, there could always be easier solutions.
I really like the art you’ve been doing for the games recently, Scratch is a great game engine and it’s what I started using. Although it’s visual and fairly basic it’s a great way to learn the mindset of a programmer!
This is definitely a cute and cosy game you've made! I love the lil duckie! Looks like a good lil chef. Nice work with using Scratch, this is how I initially got into making games/programming as my school would teach this to us, and it's great software you can definitely do a lot with ti!
I loved using scratch back in middle school, and it is what got me into programming games. Love your videos Goodgis

I have made soft-bodied simulations in Scratch. But If I had half the artistic talent as you, I could go miles. Good job. I have showed them to AIA and AdventureMase already, I wish I could show you too.
Ok. Currently for me it takes me about two weeks to code a game at this level and when I saw this game on scratch, I was so impressed. But hey. To be fair you are a coder in reality. I hope to see you post more regularly on scratch!! ❤
The artstyle looks AMAZING!

Omg I used to use scratch so much when I was little. It's such a nice tool, I started my first major game project recently with playmaker and all of the stuff I learned with scratch helped me get feel comfortable so quickly.

Hey Goodgis, thanks for the video! I watched alot of your videos and I was wondering if you thought about having one to share with us how do you create ART game assets with your artstyle (not the pixel art, but the vector one)? We saw a bit in this video here, but a video about color palette, layers, masks, forms would be really interesting (with your design background)! Thanks! :)

You can make a lot of interesting things using scratch, for example 3d Minecraft, cloud multiplayer games, scrolling games like terraria and more
The way to add custom fonts is long but the end result is amazing. 1. Make a costume with text (make sure it’s in vector mode) 2. Export said costume to your computer, it will save as a SVG (a vector format) 3. Open the SVG with notepad 4. Replace all of the current font of said SVG to another font in your PC (example: I typed text in San Serif, I want to make it into Poppins) 5. Boom, done
The game looks fun and super adorable.
Perfect timing!

as someone who is working on a large-scale game in scratch I found this to be fun... also yeah the books are no good, but you'd be suprised what you can do. I was actually able to create a simple 2d lighting system, sort of like amongus where the light is darker around corners.

OH MY GOD! this brings back so many memories! like 6 to 8 years ago we used that in elementary school
Honestly, a great game. Scratch usually can't handle high graphical games, and whenever I work with it (Using Vector art), It doesn't come out high definition. Great job!
Perfect timing
ahh.. another day, another youtube video that makes me want to pursue joy and spend hours committing to creating something
I totally forgot about scratch! I remember using it in primary school to make a game, with a cute little title screen, about sharks. The main goal was to eat as many people as you could before you died from consuming too much plastic
This is cool When I made a scratch game I used the harverd cs50 class, I was challenged to make a game in a week but because scratch is so easy it only took 1 day. The actual game was just playing "keepy uppy" So a balloon would spawn at a random place on the x axis at the top of the screen and slowly fall down and you click on it to bounce it up after 30 seconds another balloon will spawn and fall faster, This then repeats until there was 4 four balloons and after another 30 seconds you win. It was a simple concept But it was fun nonetheless.
I played it and now I am subscribing
dude you really listened to me... I am happy... I was the one who said to make a game is scratch :).... Next game in power point, are accepting this challenge ;)

THE ART GOD DAMN
nice art!
I remember when I had a video games as lit class where we had to make a game using scratch. So, I made a point and click story that devolved into a rhythm game. Turns out, the tutorial character has been hacking into the game for a while and has intentionally been making sure you cannot progress
