I'm revisiting the Checkbook Cover after a customer saw my previous video and wanted to include a pen loop. So here, we're doing a hybrid of my previous checkbook cover and my Wordsmith Notebook locking pen loop. Enjoy!

This channel is about sharing how I craft leather goods in a way that hopefully inspires others to pursue their passion. For me, the word "legacy" has grown to mean 'to pass the torch.' That can be sharing a passion, craft, or heirloom with the next generation. My hope is that by showing, for example, how I cut my leather goods or saddle stitch a wallet that you might be inspired to either take up the craft or inspired to pursue whatever your current passion happens to be. I hope you enjoy and learn something about the craft.

Very nicely done. Is that edge beveler Damascus by any chance? Also like the Tokonole/water tip...might give that a shot.

Hi Steve! The beveler is made from HSS-M2; tungsten-molybdenum high-speed steel. It has a higher carbon content than tool steel, which provides some higher wear resistance. Let me know what you think of the tokonole/water mixture for your edge application. Cheers, Ted

First off: Damn the product photos you have on your website are so slick. Good job. I've seen lots of crafters use those refillable marker pens but no one has ever said where they actually got them from. Where did you get yours? I'm curious to know why you glued the pen holder on top of the check case? I would have glued the pen holder down first, then folded the leather over on top of it hiding that small tab.

Hey thanks! You can find these acrylic refillable felt tip markers on Amazon. Search for "Montana Cans Empty Acrylic Marker" and you'll find a few sizes available. Ah, yes.... gluing the pen holder underneath would have been better. At the time I was concerned that the pen holder piece would have caused some trouble with fitting in the customer's checkbook if I had glued it underneath so I opted to put it over the top. If I were to craft this again I would just glue it underneath, hiding the tab.

I'm sure you have been asked this a hundred thousand times so I'm so sorry to do it again, but do you take custom orders at all? I couldn't find information on your site. >.< I love your journal cover design and attention to detail!
