Ya, that's not going to work well or long with heavy rain and strong winds or when bears and wolves pick up you scent. Might work good for a few days with no extreme weather but imagine a bear coming through your camp while you are sleeping. A bear would just knock that over and swat and bite at you as you try to escape and maybe get suffocated 😆

Nice tent👍🏾 if you are somewhere where a big pole isn't available you can stuff a handful of dirt and leaves in the middle and tie a rope around the clump of dirt in the tarp. Hoist rope over a tree branch and tie it off. Pretty much do the rest the same way as you suggested. 👍🏾

You forgot to mention that you should dig a "drip line"around the entire tent. That way,it will keep the water that drips off the tent from getting inside. It only takes a few minutes to dig a shallow trench around the tent. You'll understand why I do this, when you wake up in the morning after a rainstorm,in a puddle of water with all your stuff soaking wet. Peace on the path.

This is a great short using tarps for tenting. Great job!! I have always carried two good size tarps on my motorcycle in case I am in the back country and something happens I can make a home away from home. We did this a lot growing up in Alaska. One tarp for cover and the other for ground cover. Put it up/cover it with branches/leaves or bows of pines and it gets nice and warm. We always carried candles for light and road flares to start fires in any conditions-they will burn under water. Never just try to survive-but thrive!! Its what I teach.

WOW! Do we know each other? Did we camp or hunt together at some time in the past? I guess not since I've never been camping in Alaska. I'm kidding of course. It's just that I also have also always carried at least two tarps with me and you are the first person that I have "met"(?) that also always carries road flares to help with fire starting in adverse conditions. Do you carry the 15 or 30 minute flares? I usually carry the 15 minute ones as I can carry twice as many and I only very rarely need longer than that to get the fire going. Have been carrying them on all of my trips into the woods for more than 40 years.

You can get a tarp that is smaller and place it underneath to act as a floor. Also, you really can add electrification to such a tent if you get creative. There's portable camping solar panels that can charge your phone but even better they can charge portable battery banks. Using a couple of panels and a small stack of banks you can power a string of USB LED lights, run a USB charging clip on desk fan, there are even special adaptors that will let you charge your laptop off such a power bank. Combine this information with a number of solar powered devices made for patios or going on the outside of your house like motion activated security lights and boom. You have a tent with electricity and even a basic security system and outdoor lighting. Use this information as you will. I wish someone had told me three years ago when I ended up on the streets and it would have been useful to know then.

I had a little fan from Amazon for less than $10 that was charged with usb would stay on on low for 6hrs + and had a clip so you could make it a ceiling fan to circulate air or you could clip it near you and have it blow on you. Highly recommend for the ceiling fan ability! Takes that hot air that rises and spits it out!

@@gringa978 I have a pretty decently sized fan that i keep clipped above my bed. By plugging it into a 20,000mAh power bank i can run it on medium power all night long. If i use two such banks i can run it on high all night and i just have to swap out the battery when the fan dies. It'll run as longvas it's plugged in.

He’s also doing another deal! For the low low price of $200… You can buy a 1ft x 1ft plot. Well sorta…You don’t really own it tho… He still owns it but he owns it in your honor. The standard plot of land comes with an official certificate dubbing you “Special” You could also pay for an upgraded plot where he’ll plant some trees on it or for a premium he’ll make it the outhouse! This isn’t just any old certificate…. This is an official certificate so you can call yourself an official “Man of the mountains” Only VIPs can call themselves men of the mountains so don’t miss out!

Thanks for showing us these amazing survival skills. Especially with how the world is going now. I was wondering, couldn't you donthis with two tarps, at once? On for rhe tent roof, one to cover the floor, inside it? Can't you place two tarps ontop of each other. Then, just create the tent, as you showed, just leaving the bottom one, also to be tamped down with the sticks, at the same time that you're, hammering the sticks down? Using the same sticks? Heck, throw an airbed and a sleeping bag inside. Just be extra careful not to make your fire too close, that it would melt the tarps &/or an air mattress? $250,000 yeesh, for that price you at least need a little moat around the tent, to keep out unwanted things. Makes it a waterfront property, then. 😂👍 Keep up with the excellent work 😎👌

If you add one additional step of folding in half before staking down the entrance, you will have a built in ground mat that can be tucked in. This will obviously result in a shorter/smaller tent
