Bad news Doug, I just found out that Honda is discontinuing their entire walk behind mower industry in 2023. California has been suing them for not following emission protocols in their state and it has led to this decision. It is still unclear if they are also stopping production on their GCV series engines that power these mowers. However, they will still be producing their GX series engines, tillers, generators, pumps, and snowblowers for now but even they are vulnerable to being chopped. I dug a little more into it and I found out that they’re reconditioning their North Carolina facility to only build their UTVs like the Pioneer and the Talon. Only the South Carolina plant will still be producing the small stuff. To me, this is really devastating news. Honda really has made some of the best equipment and engines you can get new, without them all we have are literal junk piles made from cheap foreign labor. I’ve always used Tecumseh powered machines growing up, but I also got to use some Honda products as well and I know that they are just as good as those old Tecumsehs. This is the end of an era.

California sucks but I wouldn't count on it because 90% of California wants to succeed from the 10% making those pathetic rules. The chances of this remaining permanent depend on if Democrats retain power. California has no right to tell the rest of the country what they can and cannot do. Honda was good but, never mind favorite walk behind to use they had an inherent issues with the gears locking up on the back so you couldn't pull the machine back among other things but they were decent mowers. That engine on those machines has been on there since like the mid late 90s already. With a very small upgrade on the very new ones.
