Il Makiage matches you and let’s you try before you buy for two weeks. I will tell you it’s affordable- EVERYONE should have their concealer- no settling, pilling, super coverage. There’s nothing I have ever found like it. And I’ve tried them all. It’s only online, but they are excellent at matching.

I use my glow screen, with my Loreal true match NUDE, mixed together on the back of my hand, then dot on, and pounce and bounce with my blender sponge, and a very light dusting of Cover Girl ageless blurring pressed powder. I'm 59+

@@tammywade3649you shouldn’t mix your sunscreen with anything else. You will get less and uneven protection and affect its ability to work the way it’s supposed to. You also most likely are using nowhere near enough sunscreen which should be around 1/4 teaspoon for your face to get the stated protection, give or take depending on the size of your face. Apply your sunscreen first, let it set, and if you need to dilute your foundation do it with something else.

Gabi, I totally agree with you, there is absolutely nothing the matter with trying to look nice. I feel so much better when I go somewhere and look nice. So many people just don't care how they look when they leave the house these days. Well quite frankly I never wanted to do something everyone else is doing, I am 68 yrs. old and I still like being noticed because I am making an EFFORT on my appearance. I may not feel that way in the future, but for right now I still do and I am going to keep watching your videos for these excellent tips. Thank you for being here.

A natural beauty co-worker said to me, " you know how your husband tells you every morning how beautiful you are?" I commented that my husband rarely tells me I'm beautiful. She replied with pity in her voice, " and you work so hard at it!" 😂. Not sure that was a compliment, but I'll keep working at it!

I believe making a little effort in our appearance and taking good care of ourselves (not necessarily a full face of makeup every day) is also a form of respect to other people. It also depends on the occasion, for example if I only have to go grab some groceries I will not spend as much time getting ready as if I had to go out for dinner, but still I try to avoid looking frumpy, sometimes it really does not take much. For a job interview, even on zoom, I like to put on a little makeup and look at least presentable and professional. It just means that you care enough. This obviously does not apply to people who have legitimate reasons to be unable to groom themselves (depression, disabilities or any other difficult circumstances) but most people are just lazy.

I'm 66 and of course our era was all about making an effort and not looking frumpy. We wouldn't be caught dead going out in public with hair curlers, slippers, and PJs. Proper undergarments were expected. I mean, we had hygiene classes in high school about how to dress, take care of our nails, do our hair, etc etc. These days, who knows what's being taught? It was considered self-respect and respect for the senses of others, who have to look at us. I mean, if someone wants to look like a schlub, that's their lookout, but then they shouldn't expect any respect!!
I absolutely LOVE this channel! As a “mature” but young 68 year old, I’m always looking for makeup tips. I have the things you mentioned that make mature skin look older - age spots, dry patches and some redness. I already use the L’Oreal foundation but will be going to Sephora to get some of the other products you mentioned including the Supergoop sunscreen. Thanks for always looking out for us older ladies!

Funny. I just went to Sephora a couple weeks ago, to use up some points etc and ended up getting a small tube of Supergoop. I have used it in the past, but I think it was a sample or something. It was fantastic but full size was expensive so I decided against it. I've come around to realising it's worth the expense. I've also got the L'Oreal serum foundation, and I use the primer that goes with it; it's really nice! One thing I haven't tried is the Estee Lauder foundation, but so many people seem to swear by it, that I think I'll need to give it a try....!!!

@@johannaholmgren8088 I bought the Estée Lauder foundation (I currently wear the L’Oreal foundation that Gabi recommends). I wore the Estée Lauder yesterday and omg, it is the best! I applied it around 9 yesterday morning and wore it for over 12 hours and it still looked fantastic on my skin! No settling in lines, no oxidation, etc. I understand now why every one loves it!

What do you like about the L'Oreal foundation?
I vote YES for “THIS NOT THAT”! ❤
Hi, Gabi - I recently have been watching your videos. I enjoyed this format very much. I think what mature women mean by “trying too hard” is we don’t want to look like we are trying to look like someone half our age with makeup, clothes, hair; we want to enhance our look while feeling a best version of our maturing self. There’s confidence and beauty in that. ❤
Love your comment, "When did trying become a bad thing?" I have loved makeup, since I was a young teen! At 67, I still want to look my best, so from tinted sunscreen on, I love trying different makeup products and applications! Enjoy your videos, Gabi!
Please do the whole series! What an awesome idea. Also thank you so much for spotlighting mature people - women older than 35 are almost invisible in society, yet they are the ones who spend the most money on hair and makeup.
Love this series and wish I had seen it before investing in the Dior Forever Matte foundation that other KZreadrs swore was great for mature skin and prevented creasing! Grrrr. The Cool Rosy shade actually has a yellow undertone, neither cool nor rosy! Your comment was brilliant … I keep running into friends (early 70s) who have grown out long, stringy hair, quit coloring it, and dress like little gray mice. It’s almost like they are trying to be invisible. Meanwhile, I have blonde hair with highlights and lowlights and gravitate towards Fuschia pinks, teal blues, etc. with white jeans for summer. I have thought “am I trying to hard”, then think “Nah, I love what I’m wearing”! I also love the incredibly gorgeous eyes on your client! Wow!! Can you recreate that look for us?

I noticed after a certain age women cut their hair super short and start dressing like men. Big sweatshirts and sloppy pants. I can’t relate.
at age 68 I still have areas of very oily skin on my face. The T-zone most especially. I use a modifying primer along with a matte foundation. Otherwise I look like an oil slick. There are many other ways to give your skin a glow, that don’t include using a glowy primer or a glowy foundation! Everyone’s skin is unique and different to them.
Gabi, I really appreciate all your tips on mature skin makeup (and application) and the explanations behind them. I would love for you to continue the series! One thing that I would personally find helpful is a video on all the different makeup brushes to use for the various applications. There are SO many shapes and textures out there and with varying associated costs. I honestly get overwhelmed trying to figure out which types I need and for what purpose. I also feel like there surely must be a particular brand or two that are reasonably priced that would work just as well as the higher priced ones. I just don’t know which that would be. So, a video on this would be very helpful ❤

Yes, more of this/not that please! You give the truth and don’t have us overspending on mediocre products!
I’m 54, and I tried a shimmer sunscreen. It made me look like absolute SH!T. 😂 I’d highly recommend that anyone with lines in their face proceed with caution, and not spend a fortune trying one out. Thanks for doing the over 50 videos, I really enjoy your content, and your relatability. ☮️💖🙏

I have textured skin and the glow products high light those areas which I dislike. So I agree with you regarding lines. I would probably just use a satin product only in spots that I don’t have lines or texture. But those areas need to Matte for me.
Yes, more content like this please! I used to have very oily skin but now I have to adjust to drier skin as I age and living in a low humidity climate. The struggle is real 😂
Hmmm. Trying too hard…as a 68 year old woman, this phrase implies I could appear to be unaccepting of my age and am driven to look young. Nothing to do with effort really. We all want to be accepted and feel relevant EXACTLY as we are. Trying too hard also means (to me) the fear of not getting it right (looking overdone) and being judged for it. Unfortunately there’s still a lot of ageism out there. I applaud you Gabi for helping us navigate the complicated makeup and hair space. 🙏🏻 I don’t want to look young, I want to look my own, personal best now and as I continue the adventure.
Love this video, Gabi! Please do more-- your honesty is so refreshing. So many content creators are sponsored or sent products so it's hard to decipher what is really good or what is just being "sold."
I think a common mistake many mature women make is using a heavy hand with their makeup. Hence the concern of “trying too hard”. I encourage my fellow mature women, use all the products but start out light and easy. You can always add more as needed. Anyway, it’s an important I’ve learned over time - so many thanks for your kind and helpful guidance

Good point. I use ELF poreless primer and then blend a cream foundation on my hand with more of the primer. I blend 2 shades to get it just right.
Loved it ! Please do more! Concealers, blushes, etc! So useful and honest without sponsors!Thank you!
I would love to see more videos like this! After trying so many high end foundations, I finally tried the Loreal Age Perfect and love it! Would love to see a video on concealers and color correctors.

I love the idea of this series ! It's like having you in a personal consultation 😂. I would love it if you could do one on cruelty free products if a product tests on animals, I don't care how I look in it I'm not buying it ! It seems like people are leaning more into eco sustainable products, and I'm here for it ! Thank you for all you do I love your videos ❤ 😊

judy9165...Cruelty-Free Kitty has an AMAZING website dedicated to Cruelty-Free beauty products. The founder has done a prestigious job in her research & publishing SO much helpful information for those looking for Cruelty-Free brands, even sustainable sourced or environmentally responsible. Even their monthly subscription box, now called Better Beauty box, is really great & the 1st subscription box where I actually received full sized products that I actually had use for the entire box. I'm confident you will find the information about brands you are looking for...and so much more!
Yes, PLEASE continue with more tips for mature skin Love it all
Love this channel!! I just turned 74 and wear pretty full makeup every day and I love it. It's fun and gives me some confidence and I look forward to "trying" new techniques and products. I think the negativity comes from others thinking it's ego related or selfishly spending too much time on yourself. I did try the Double Wear but found it too much - love the comment to mix it with HA or oil. Thanks for the suggestions Gabi!!

I tried the Estee Lauder futurist hydra rescue moisture makeup spf 45: and I love it. Medium coverage, satin to radiant finish depending on if I got carried away with application. A bit pricey but it goes on sale.
Yes do a series of “this and not that”! I know that everyone has different skin and hair, but it’s still good to know what you think is good and what isn’t, and why.
Hello! You are awesome, thank you for your advice. To answer your question, I’m 57 and have friends who are definitely “trying too hard”, what this means to me is that they are trying to go back in time and try to be 25 again rather than accept their beauty at their age and let it shine. They do makeup that is silly, terrribly long lashes, glitter, too much eye liner that ultimately backfires and makes them look desperate. Your advice is what they need. some how they believe if they repeat what worked at 25 it’ll succeed. Their role models are not skin appropriate. Trying to hard means not accepting the fact of your age- and bringing out the best but rather, trying to copy teenagers to look like them. thank soooo much for your tips!
I am 70 in a few weeks, so you know why I clicked on your post so quickly! I agree about the Estée Lauder doublewear foundation- it’s the best I have ever used!
Yes, please do continue the This not That series… I ❤ your videos!
Oil of Olay total effects 7 is excellent! I’ve been using it since I was 28! I’m 44 now. It’s a SPF 30 with moisturizer. I use it all the time before I put my makeup on. It works! I’m the proof. ❤
Love this series and would really enjoy seeing more like this. A comment below stated," I think what mature women mean by “trying too hard” is we don’t want to look like we are trying to look like someone half our age with makeup, clothes, hair; we want to enhance our look while feeling a best version of our maturing self. " That is what I mean when I think of the statement, "trying too hard". It's not a negative comment about putting any effort into ones appearance. It's about looking youthful at the age you currently are and not trying to be what you aren't. That to me shows confidence and not insecurity.
Yes, please do a THIS NOT THAT on hair products! Love your honest reviews!
I love that you went from drugstore to high end, because not all of us can afford the high-end. I really do you want you to do a full makeover on a woman over 60. Woman deserve to feel beautiful at any age thank you for sharing your knowledge, and not being guarded with it.
I really needed to hear not to use the mattifying foundations, it's just a go to thing to look for as someone who dealt with oily skin until I moved out west. Love this format! Have a great weekend!
Gabi….you are a life saver! I purchased the sunscreen and the L’Oréal foundation. I put all on and was shocked to the core of the enormous change/benefits! I had been using the Dior foundation. But for me, the other products you suggested have me looking younger and amazingly better. Thank you, thank you!
Great tips! There are some of 50+ ladies out here that have oily skin and/or live in humid climates where dry skin is not an issue. It would be wonderful if you could help us. There are not many videos addressing that.

Great reminders Gabi! Just a cool fyi: Trader Joe’s has and incredible dupe for the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen for a fraction of the price! I can’t live without it now! 😃

Love your positivity about makeup and aging! The “this, not that” was awesome. Please make some more of those! I’m 64, and have a lot of “being in high school in the 70’s” wrinkles! What do you think is an under eye concealer that actually doesn’t sink into EVERY crease? Thanks for all your videos. They’re great and informative!

It's trying and failing that we want to avoid. Many of us have worked really hard to look good and then caught sight of ourselves in the mirror and been humiliated at how we look. At that point it's tempting to give up and just resign ourselves to looking frumpy. It's to overcome that discouraging failure that I am watching your channel. Putting on makeup is FUN when we follow these great tips and rediscover the magic good makeup application and correct products can perform.
Love this! Thank you.
