Makenna Cook - 23-year-old suffers brain aneurysm

When Chad Cook's daughter Makenna returned home on Sunday she suffered a sudden headache and got on her knees, asking God for help. Moments later she couldn't feel her fingers and had trouble speaking. Then her pupils went to the back of her eyes. Shocked, her family rushed her to Union General Hospital in Blairsville, then to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Hospital staff said Makenna had an AVM aneurysm and told them to tell her goodbye.

My granddaughter’s head was run over by a Toyota tundra at 18 months old. 14 skull fractures, a brain bleed, 11 days on life support and 7 more in the hospital! She has no idea to this day what a testimony she is to Gods amazing grace! She just turned 5!

I too survived a brain aneurysm on June 29, 2017. They gave me a 3% chance of living. My sister told me my brain was full of blood. My brothers and sisters in Christ prayed over me. I was in a coma for a week, then I started to come completely conscious. It took a while. I stayed in hospital another week or two for therapy. I got wheeled to the front of hospital when I was discharged and got up and walked to my sister’s car. My biggest deficits are a lack of balance and short term memory which is a bit severe. But I am 72 now so I think age has also added on. They found another small aneurysm and several infarcts in my brain but I am still going strong. I will pray for you Makenna. Be encouraged, God is not done yet. You are a miracle and so am I. He still does miracles today. Be blessed.

My Mother was 7 months pregnant with my older brother, when she suffered a massive brain anerurysm (stroke) She was in a coma for 2 weeks, and in the hospital for 2 months and 9 days. She was completely paralyzed on her left side. She spent her 21st birthday in the hospital. They did not have physical therapy back then. They wanted to brain surgery, but back then, my mother felt it may kill her. My father constantly prayed for her and my brother, along with many others. My Mother made a full recovery. It took years to build up her strength. She had to learn to walk all over again, by holding onto a wooden chair and pushing it. My Mother was considered a miracle, and she took a chance to have me, 5 years later. My Mother lived 52 more years, until she got brain cancer and died. I fell so blessed to have the parents I was given. I do believe in miracles. They did not think my Mother would make it, either, and she did to live a good life for 52 more years.

Don't let doctors tell you when to let go. You will know it. They told us to stop care on my mother, giving us this story about how she was suffering. In a few days she was eating and speaking. Hospitals do not want patients to die in the hospital they want them to die in hospice because that death goes against the hospital. Always remember there is something in it for the other guy when they're trying to force you to do something. My mother was not going to live a long time but she didn't have several weeks more that she could communicate and we could be with her and I would not give up this week for anything thank God we were tough enough to wait until WE knew that it was time.

I lost my best friend to a brain aneurysm when she was 25. My dad's father died from one at 50. My maternal grandfather had an aortic aneurysm and died at 67. On my husband's side, his mother, his sister, and his mother's sister (his aunt) all died in their 60's from brain aneurysms. Just a terrible thing to happen to anyone. I'm glad God helped Makenna through to healing again. It was not her time to join him in Heaven. Faith in God has gotten me through the darkest times in my life (losing my husband in a traumatic and unexpected manner when I was 38 and he was only 40), raising our two children on my own. Battling chronic hereditary recurrent depressive disorder. When I feel unable to take another step, God lifts my foot and moves it to the next step for me. I have no fear with God walking beside me.

I liked the fact that this father had faith as a result of looking at the situation with Jairus' daughter where it could be easily said: she's already dead, why trouble the master. Personally, for myself, I've learned to accept whatever God deals out to me. It's not about me. It's about God.

My daughter died thru prolapsed cord without oxygen 42 mins then was delivered blue and black. Doctor yelled at me insisted he was God to name the baby, I rose my hand and told him you’re not my God I’ll show you what my God will do. 6 hours later 3 nurses were at my bed preparing me to go see the miracle, unknown what they were talking about. My baby started crying in the morgue when they rushed her to emergency where I met her. Second I placed my hand at her hand she grasped my hand and stopped crying. All the first responders asked me what God I believe in, I made the sign of the cross and said I am Greek Orthodox, my God is my Heavenly Father! That doctor came in and I fired him, then a pediatrician came and hired her. I5 was the longest road ahead but I am so Blessed in the Mighty Name of Jesus and God the Father is always in my home!

Just ran across this video on the heels of spending 56 days in the hospital after a hole in my stomach burst. I had several blood transfusions, cardio aversion procedures, pneumonia, no food for 32 days only IV, no water for 30 days only swabs, critical illness myopathy, couldn't stand or walk for four months, and had to shave my head because of the severe matting and knots in my hair. I had just finished a semester in my graduate school program and ready to celebrate. 🎉 Instead, I had emergency surgery on Christmas Eve. Continued physical therapy and nurse care follow up at home, lost 42 pounds, and almost died twice. This is no comparison by any means, but an acknowledgement of God's goodness! Praising God for his incredible goodness, grace, mercy, and faithfulness. I can now stand, walk, vacuum, climb of flight of stairs (very carefully), and am praising God every step of the way for McKenna and myself. ❤ Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still." I received this scripture four separate times on this horrible journey and knew that God would be faithful to me because he was at work! In September, I will return to the university to continue my MA program only because of God's goodness! 👩‍🎓Praying for McKenna's continued improvement!

He survived but has been left with some brain damage no short term memory he cannot weigh up information to make decision. This happened in 1997 he is now 87 and for the last five years due to his wifes death he lives with me and i care for him. He lives a full life has good mobility and enjoys the moment. His health is good and we are just getting ready to go on holiday. God gave my father a second chance and me a gift to spend time with the man that gave me his love growing up. God was with him that day and laid his hand on the young surgeon who saved his life.

I looked at the doctor's and said I rebuke that in the name of Jesus. Do not ever speak doubt and unbelief over me. Last time I had 2 aneurysms rupurted and a massive stroke. But I walked out of the hospital 8 days later. 5 months later I was told I had cancer.I said that is a lie straight from the pits of hell and I will live and not die. This is the only thing that scared me and it was hard to keep my faith but I'm cancer free and still thank God for saving me.

My symptoms were the same as your daughters when my brain aneurysm ruptured. (Not from an AVM) The pain was horrendous. I am still here by the grace of God. God is good, and I’m grateful that your daughter survived. My short term memory is lost. I’m able to walk with support short distances. My long term memory is also intact. Mine happened 3 years ago. I will continue to pray for your lovely daughter-and share her miracle story. God bless you all. 🙏🏼

I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in 2016. I was 52. It took them 7 days to diagnose me. God preserved me through it all. I had a lot of healing to do and did a lot of natural therapies. The Lord led me to the Carnivore diet which helped to heal my brain. I had lost most of my eyesight in my right eye and that has been completely restored. I suffered damage from astronomical amounts of inflammation but that has also gone away. I shouldn’t be here but God had other plans. I’ll be praying for Makenna. Thank you for sharing her story.

God has a plan for Makenna. She is already living proof of his healing and how prayer is so powerful. We started praying as soon as we found out about Makenna from the Presley girls. We are still praying for total healing of Makenna.

This video brought tears to my eyes. My wife of 40 years suffered a brain aneurysm about two years ago in the middle of COVID. I also suffered a blot clot in the lung due to covid and was in the hospital when she had the aneurysm. I needed to be with her and through the grace of GOD I got better and could be with her. GOD does answer our prayers. As I watched this video my wife is sitting by my side. She is doing well, But like your daughter, she has some short-term memory loss but gets better every day.

I suffered a ruptured aneurysm in my brain as well. Died. Woke up exactly like a newborn baby. Man, it was a hard row to hoe. Every Dr gave me a 0% chance. I had a ventricle shift..... But, i am still here. God is truly the only, ONLY reason❤. My rupture was too deep to do any surgery, so I walk by the GRACE OF GOD!!!!!!

Love, thoughts, and prayers are with you all! My sister n law had an aneurysm bust in her head. She survived. This was back in the 80s. The Dr said she would never walk again. She believed that God will help her walk, My husband took her to the gym to work out. She started walking. Her neurologist was amazed she walked in his office! God is good!

Thank you for your testimony to God's miraculous power. My wife had a ruptured brain aneurysm and i was told she only has a 10 percent chance of living, and if she does make it she will probably be an invalid. She left the hospital 15 days later with no neurological or physical problems. As in your case, many people were praying, and our family had very great Christian support. There are no "chances" with God. May God bless you, your family and Makenna.
