Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

How to make your own raw organic apple cider vinegar from both unpasteurised farm cider and apples. Here were using last year's, cold-store apples. This vinegar is delicious and has great benefits for health and beauty, from deodorant and salad dressing to first aid treatment for shock in birds and internal parasites in chicks. Good quality organic raw apple cider vinegar is expensive but so easy to make at home, in particular, if you have your own trees or are able to obtain or barter fruit for other garden produce.

A beautiful video. Thanks for showing us the fermentation process. I also loved the glimpse of life in the garden at the start, both flora and fauna!

Thank you! I am so happy I filmed the garden sections, as I did for the rose perfume film, as I mentioned we have had torrential rain for days so it has dashed down quite a section of the garden but hopefully this will also mean we get secondary flowering of many of the roses. Love from Normandie, Sue xx

Hi Sara and thank you so much for your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated. The next part should be up within the next few days. Good luck with yours, once you've tasted home-made vinegar you will never want store bought again! All the very best from rainy Normandie, Sue xx

Hi Mags! Hope everything is going well! It's not as warm as it should be here at this time of year and the more delicate vegetables and fruits are looking a little like they wished they'd stayed in the soil! Hopefully though it is getting warmer each day, albeit by a fraction of a degree, so take heart! Love from Normandie, Sue

Hi Lucy, Thank you so much for those lovely comments, you made my morning! We were going to make pear vinegar as well but felt sorry for the birds, as it is supposed to be for them that we get given all this 'debris', Some of them had been looking through the kitchen window and were getting jolly annoyed at seeing us cutting up 'their' apples! Love from Normandie, Sue xx

Hi there - Good to hear from you and I am so happy this was useful for you. Like you we were paying so much money for raw organic apple cider vinegar and we had an orchard full of cider apples and/or the organic shop was giving us all their damaged eating apples - and there are only so many apple pies we can eat.....maybe. All the very best from Normandie, Sue xx

Wow I bet that’s going to be some wonderful homemade vinegar! Have you used any other kinds of fruit to make vinegar?

Hi there Gina, we actually used some of it to make syllabub whilst it is still in the cider stage and it is delicious as cider so that bodes well for the vinegar! We've made red wine vinegar from the grape vine in the garden, hopefully we'll have a go again this year as it looks like being a good year for many of the fruits but there is also a raspberry vinegar I'd like to make. My mother used to have this as a drink when she was a child and always tells me how amazing it was. There are so many things you can make but some of them have a very short season - my next film in this series is on elder flowers, I've already made one batch of cordial and I have a really tasty elder flower fritter recipe too but I need to hurry up and film because our trees are now in full bloom and as you no doubt know the flowering season is very short and a breath of wind takes the delicate petals clean away just at the moment of optimum picking if you are unlucky. Though in the case of the elder, at least you then get the chance for berries and cordials and wine. Love from sunny Normandie, Sue xx
