Clam Blitz brush mains are just built different. And by “different” I mean they threw out the instructions and just winged it because I think I can count on one hand the number of solo queue brushes I’ve seen that play like they have more than five brain cells

It's pride that gets in the way. Thinking so proudly of your own idea that you force it onto your teammates even when there is a golden opportunity

This reminds me of a similar statement I heard in a League of Legends podcast (Broken by Concept): "A poor plan executed well is better than a good plan executed poorly"
The irony that it was an inkbrush refusing to rush in in clam blitz is palpable.
this is so painful as a luna neo player seeing all of the opportunities that player had
I hate clam jumpers (usually inkbrushes running to basket) on my team with a burning passion but I gotta admit that I’ve gotten myself into way more “This Way!” arguments than I probably had any business of doing. I’ve wasted entire minutes across multiple matches where I just spam “This Way!” at the clam jumpers, in the process losing focus over the fight at hand. Not only is making the wrong choice fast a great way to save time, but it also prevents you from getting tilted over the resulting mess because your inkbrush is just too darn stuBBORN AND WON’T GET BACK TO DEFEND THE BASK- you get the point. Splatoon is a team based game, after all, so sometimes it’s best to trust your teammates to make the right decision (so long as they aren’t hyper feeding by running into that Hydra and giving up all your super clams).
Looks like you kermitted a crime irl
You can't stop me from making bad decisions, laddie.
I remember hearing wisdom that I think is a bit more applicable here- It's better for the entire team to make the same wrong play than for only one or two players to make the right play.
The title alone gave me a chuckle. Good stuff.
the start of the video with gem dying twice gave me a chuckle soloq is a fun time i guess. i'll have to keep this in mind during my games, because sometimes i'm annoyed with people pinging this way for seemingly no reason, but maybe i should pay more attention and could make stronger plays
gem literally said "think fast chucklenuts"

This sounds like a life and death scenario where the fire fighters have to pick who to save
I bet writing and filming this felt cathartic. "The perfect is the enemy of the good" is at least a bit related. A good plan executed right now is better than a perfect plan executed too late - the perfect is the enemy of the good in the sense that waiting for the perfect opportunity to use the perfect plan will kill any chance of an acceptable outcome. Take the good plan you have now and run with it because you will not get a better idea in time.
hey just to let you know, your video is very quiet. this can make it very jarring for your viewers if they were watching another video before yours, and finding it to be too quiet, and turning up the volume in compensation, just to get blasted by sound in the video they watch after yours. if you right click this video and click "Stats for nerds", under "Volume / Normalized" you can see this video has a content loudness of -12.3, which is incredibly quiet. it should be reaching as close to zero db as possible. any higher than 0 and KZread will just adjust it lower to match, however any quieter than 0.0 will not be adjusted upwards to match. it is okay to be slightly below 0 db, however -12db or lower is very far away (note that users who have the "stable volume" experiment toggled on in settings might not notice the difference, and if you also have that toggled on you might not even have been aware of your sound being quieter)
Breaking News: a 27 year old man is serving 1 year in jail after sending 39 bomb threats to Nintendo. He admitted in court that as he lost more games (in splatoon 3) he did get more frustrated.
*this does not apply to glowflies wall clingers in spawning grounds or gone fission
Poor Luna blaster just wanted to get a few points 😢
I think thats a big problem, many S+ players want to regroup at all cost, even thoug the time is at 10 sec and its unlikely to win but theoreticaly possible. Things like that got me to a point of having 40 losses and 10 wins, wich is just frustraiting. I am a splatershot main and most of the time team best in terms of kills and objectiv points, are there any more Tipps cause I stopped playing multiplayer for the past two seasons because of the Frustration
I feel for the Neo Luna, waiting under the basket like that. It makes me think of a Freelance Salmon Run shift where I was splatted and sitting by the egg basket, spamming "Help!" for a full 28 seconds while the rest of my team feeds nine eggs (I just dug out the clip and counted) into a Big Shot launcher and blasts them at the basket where I can't do anything with them. One of them even has the audacity to send a "This Way!" back at me. By the time anyone comes back to rez me, Snatchers have escaped with every egg except one that just happened to hit the basket.
me, standing under the enemy basket in 100-100 ot for a minute straight while two of my teammates have a power clam: unironically i might've won that game if i sj'd back and pushed... back to the clam basket i was sitting under

Read in a military novel that speed is better than perfection
Too many times have I been in the luna blaster's exact position, which is ironic considering I'm a brush main. Most of the time I just roll my eyes and go for the flank instead like gem did in this video
I mean, crossing the alps with a relatively large army and ckearly not enough food supplies WAS an objectively terrible idea, but the cartheginian leader (forgot his name) who lead that campaign DID manage to make all of his troops stick loyally to him, and that ended up being great for them in the end. It was a bad idea, but they stuck with it as a group. So they kinda made it work.

Sometimes you aren't making yourself useful, but forcing your teammate to be. (As for a more serious summary, it doesn't matter if the plan is the best one, or if it's yours, it only matters if everyone is willing to commit to it and if it works)
And this is why I don't play Clam Blitz during Anarchy series.
The thumbnails are just perfection lately
Dope! I'm waiting for the followup on how this applies to smashy bros.
Everyone knows what playing with a DC feels like. It's nigh unwinnable. It sucks. That's the level of impact having a single fewer player makes. Being out of play too long is basically the same effect as a DC. A prolonged stagger is too while we're at it.
Tippin me hat to a fellow S2 Ttek main
this justifies me never playing clam blitz soloq this kinda shit pisses me off so much LOL
Hey Jim, I have been finding your videos really helpful, but I also have issues with remembering some of the things you say. Do you think I should start writing them down, or just watch these videos multiple times?
this video pained me to watch
This is the reason I don’t like playing clam blitz
this is honestly why I sometimes feel like clam blitz is by far the worst mode because it requires so much in terms of players coordinating and making a decision like even a bad decision is better than spending time doing nothing
In this situation, I would have shifted to defense. There's a minute and a half left, and we're in the lead. The best play here is to protect our basket and not score anymore.
first [im sorry]

I learned something similar in a video by @rachelskiiiiiii about Salmon run. It's best to go with the majority vote to keep everyone on the same page. if two people are committed to rushing the shore, it's often for the benefit to just go with them
