Make Noise 0-CTRL touch controlled sequencer

Ойын-сауық

In which I demo the Make Noise 0-CTRL in conjunction with the 0-COAST. The 0-CTRL is a standalone 8-step analog sequencer with touch control, similar to Pressure Point/Brains in Eurorack and the Serge TKB. When played with the 0-Coast this is could well be called the "Make Noise Easel", as it covers similar ground to the fantastic Buchla instrument, while being very much a Make Noise instrument. Thanks to Make Noise for sending these two over!

"the make noise easel": exactly the comment I made on Make Noise channel when they announced the release of this 0-coast companion (adding that I planned to order one, since I already had so much pleasure tinkering with the 0-coast I bought last fall. (btw, can't wait to get my SyntRX... a must have for a guy who used to tinker with an aks in the early 80s and for 12 years now has been spending half of his time... in Putney!🤗)

Use an SQ-1 in tandem with this rubbing the same sequence, with the SQ-1 sending quantized values and pitch slide activated on the unquantized values of the 0-CTRL. Get a pair of hard synced oscillators. Send the SQ-1 values out to the master oscillator, and the 0-CTRL values to the slave oscillator and enjoy timbral shifts throughout each note in the sequence that can be further affected with manual interaction.

This is the first time in a long time that I haven't been desperate to rush out and buy a newly released MN product. That's a good feeling :) I love Make Noise, but this one didn't ring my bell right away. Turns out it was just a slow attack. I' m starting to see the possibilities that the 0-CTRL present. The gate per step is what really sells me on the device. I have an RYO VC sequencer with the Trig Xpander that I built and it is wonderful having those triggers. There's also the appeal of it being standalone. I'm running out of hp, as always. Thanks for the video. Thanks for the ideas you help my brain generate.

I was hoping this would have been more similar to the SQ1 (capable of independent duophonic control) but with some voltage memory (sequence storage). The Buchla music easel keyboard and synth are intentionally duophonic. The 0-coast is a bit tricky to use in that context as it requires midi and a calibration to get the slope circuit to track well with the primary oscillator, but it’s doable. Also if it could have been battery driven and have enough capacity to power the 0-coast, it would have made more sense as an enabler to an easel system. It’s certainly a nifty device, but it only meets half my needs.
