Make a Wood Spoon
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I will show you how to make a wood spoon. Using hardwood off cuts from Walnut and Sapele, this woodworking project is one that most woodworkers can make in just a few hours.
As you will see with this woodworking project, no two wooden spoon have to look exactly alike, in fact its the imperfections that lend themselves to highlight the handmade aspect of the build - Enjoy!

I'm mostly impressed with how straight those pencil lines are.
I've been loving a few layers of walnut oil for finishing my spoons. Give it a try.
so much labour intensive on a spoon, next time when i am using a wooden spoon will handle with care (appreciate the hard labour behind the spoon)
Thank you so much for this video I just bought the Arbortech ball gouge and I got the Arbortech precision carving system thanks to your video I will be making spoons and bowls.
All those power tools to carve a spoon Jon - what next - a CNC laser cutter and milling machine? But seriously, I do enjoy your videos and this one is as good as all your others - keep them coming.

Why not, I carve spoons and bowls and kitchen utensils...and am tired as heck carving with knives...I carve with power tools and finish manually...
The material is presented and explained very nicely. Short and to the point. Thanks
I wish I too is a person like you are 👍

Pretty experienced with carpentry. Took up carving about 6 months ago and I’m terrible at it. Was doing everything by hand (hatchet, carving knives, etc.). Just picked up the ball gouge and mini turbo plane kit last week. Gonna practice with the tools today. Some day I’ll be as good as you!!!

That spoon looks amazing
Cool project! Always wanted to try power carving
how is that single stage suction system working for the small shop? Have you upgraded to a different system?
Thank you for the video Jon very good and practical, Greetings.
Thanks Jon.
Shout out to power tools! Great help from the video.. I would suggest some music or talking instead of the sped up sounds of the machines..
Those spoons look terrific Jon, just like something that would have been done in the 17th or 18th centuries!
Had a though that the saying you used at the end “happy with the way they turned out” had to do with turning things on a lathe! Maybe maybe not but awesome spoons!
Да это то что мне нужно.сколько по цене???долларов??
That’s work of art!!! Thank you Jon
Great job buddy love your video! Now where can I find a bandsaw in the Philippines!
Great project!
Good job. My suggestion, what if you try to use chainsaw disc mounted on 115 mm diam grinder to gouge the spoon? Think it could have been more easier to manage.
I watch all your videos!!! Keep up the great work.
Porfavor me podrías comentar dónde puedo comprar ésa broca redonda, gracias por mostrar tú trabajo ,muy bien realizado y bonito ♥️
Bagus mas bro
Those scribing skills are awesome
Thank for the video
Hello, I have a question about the sanding process, do you think sanding paper is perfectly safe for utensil making? I am trying to make a cutting board with solidwood, but I do hesitate to use sanding paper to smooth it. I worry that the particles and the glue will get into the wood and eventually leach into the food. Could you please suggest? Thank you!
Great video! Thanks for the info. Subbed fo sho! Cheers
Cool!

Is it possible to router the handle instead of sanding it?
How do you sharpen it and do they come small enough for a CNC machine?
After making a spoon, what is the name of the coating material.... if it is wiped... please reply.
Nice !!
They look great!! where can I get that wax?
Sieht schön aus ,aber mit Maschinen ist's immer leichter als mit der Hand.
with all those tools is "piece of cake", but not all the people have power tools, !!
One small thing I noticed you say 5/4 measures 1-1/6".. usually it should measure as the name suggests 5/4" or 1.25". Maybe a little less after planing etc but should still be fairly close to 1.25". Great video though I really enjoyed it. Thanks
only thing better then your facial hair, is your free hand skills... bravo!
Great content full of insight, Hello there, may i ask a keyword to buy ball gauge? I can't find it in my country, thank you...
At what rpm are you running on your router?
Nicely done! Now for measuring spoons 😊

very useful wooden spoon, your soft behavior is gifted one, explanation like a practical teacher is interesting, I like all great artist, like an artist you made very beautiful.
Great now I need a ball gouge, thanks. So at $110 for the gouge not to mention all my other tools that touch the project, I'm going to have to make 200 spoons to save money by making my own spoon🤣🤣🤣. But seriously really good video.
Como é o nome dessa peça usada na lixadeira?
great video
good job
What's that bit called to use on grinder please?
Can you tell me the name of the cutting tool you use here and where I can buy it? Thanks.
