This is Paul Sellers rebate plane. You should give credit!

This style of plane is much older than Paul Sellers, I would give credit to the first person to make one but I have no idea who that is.

Delighted to see an Irish woodworking channel. Didn’t think such a thing existed; looking forward to future videos. I found this video while looking for info on rabbet planes to use Rob Cosman’s dovetail method. Cool video!

Nicely made and explained. I have been thinking of buying one but might make one of these myself. Thanks for making!

I bought a load of these years ago all different shapes thinking they would all come handy. All that changed when i got my stanley. Still use the tongue and groove ones from time to time. Nice one John!!!

Had a bit of scrap wood so thought I'd give it a go, I'll still buy a shoulder plane though.

John McGrath yeah man a lot of people don’t have the option of buying one, so these videos are essential. I know I didn’t when I started out. As Ivan would say KEEP HER LIT!!hahahaha!!

Looks like it has been inspired by Paul Seller. I'd watch Paul Sellers video. He only uses the most accessible tools (no expensive equipement).

Hi John, I've just discovered your channel and I must say it's great to see such professional looking and well produced videos from a fellow Irish man. Maith thú! Can I ask where do you source your hardwood timber?

Me, sitting at home reading Schwarz thinking "man, I wonder if I could build a rabbet plane. Let's check KZread." John 14 minutes earlier: "Upload complete." Thanks m8. Brilliant.

maybe just flip the plane around and offset the fence accordingly so the blade is away from the fence.

Well, Sir, I see how you may have gotten that nasty cut on your finger. I hope it won't happen again. And a big yes: inches. Incidently, at trade school, one of our instructors, from France, told us that "les menuisiers travail a la pouce." "Carpenters work in inch."

Your Irish mate you don't have to say Rabbet plane , we call it a rebate plane the yanks are not going to change the name they gave it for us so why should we for them.
