Make a pillow using any 18" quilt block

In this video, I walk you through the steps to turn any 18" quilt block into a pillow.
The supplies I mentioned:
Completed 18 1/2" quilt block (18" finished)
20" piece of batting
20" piece of pillow top sandwich backing (this piece will not be seen when pillow is finished)
(2) pieces of binding cut at your preferred size by width of fabric
3/4 yard pillow backing for outside envelope enclosure
Marking Tool: Hera Marker or Dritz Mark-B-Gone water erasable marker
505 temporary spray adhesive
thread/ruler/rotary cutter
18" pillow form
All of the fabrics I used are from my Beautiful Day collection of fabric for Moda Fabrics. It can be purchased in quilt shops (both online and locally) that carry Moda.
The quilt block I made is from my book, "A Very Coriander Christmas". I have signed copies available for purchase in my Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/listing/79584926...
It can also be purchased in both local and online quilt shops.
The beautiful, handmade Hera marker I used is from Modern American Vintage: modernamericanvintage.com/

Your pillow is so cute. Thank you. I have just recently started doing both steps of the binding by machine. So much faster then by hand. I have a Bernina and I use the 71 foot. If you have adjustable guides on your walking foot, you would not need to mark the lines on your quilt/pillow. ❤️ thank you and I look forward to more tutorials. 😊

Thank you for the pillow demo. I like how firm the pillow appears. Maybe I'm buying the wrong insert because even if I have a pillow top that measures the same size as the pillow form, it doesn't look nice and full and firm. I end up with a limp pillow. I need to try again. I have a shelf full of pillow inserts waiting to be used. More of that stash of planned gifts that never got made!

Great tutorial Corey!! I'll have to try using a Hera marker sometime, I like the idea of no chance of markings that won't come off. :( Your pillow is beautiful!!! I am loving BEAUTIFUL DAY!!! My new fabric obsession!!! Thanks for another awesome tutorial!!! Keep them coming, please!!!! :)

That was great, Corey! I'm definitely going to try using the hera to mark lines before I baste my next pillow. I've always done it after basting, and that can be bulky. Keep up the fun, informative videos!

Loved the tutorial even though I was distracted by all the Holliberry behind you. I am obsessed! I got back to quilting again recently and of course it's hard to find now. I wouldn't mind if you did a Holliberry II, though I pretty much like anything you design. :)

Thank you Corey. A fantastic video. While I had heard of the Herra (sp?) tool, I had not seen a demo before. Looks very easy to useb and straight forward. I was glad to hear that you will be doing more videos on techniques. I was intrigued with the idea of a 2 inch binding but wonder how easy it is to flip over and stitch around all of the sandwiched layers. I really liked the look of the narrower binding on the pillow. A video demo on binding would be great. Thank you!

I’ll definitely need to do a binding tutorial! I like the 2” size precisely because it snugs up right against the outside edge of the quilt. There’s not as much wiggle room for inconsistent sewing…it keeps those sewing lines much straighter on the back of the quilt.

Hi. Awesome tutorial. I still wonder where I go wrong when I do flying geese by placing the 2 squares on top of another larger square and stitching on both side of the lines, cutting and then placing the other square between the 2 squares. Tips for this method would be great. Thanks.

Corey.. Just an FYI... I also bought the QS rotary cutter. Thought I would hate it since it's kind of heavy - but just like the rulers - I'm in love with.it. I think it cuts down on wrist fatigue. If you get the chance, you should try it.
