Make a "Drill bit" for pocket hole jig
I modified a $ 5 drill bit to make a pocket hole drill bit.
With a grinder you can easily make one.

I’m so glad I found your channel. Made me realise I had forgotten my ingenuity years ago. If we couldn’t get a tool we used to make it back in the day. I’m going to start doing this again. Thanks for the inspiration. 👍🏻
Best method on KZread. THANKS!
Nice idea and easy set up. The only thing I would add is possibly a drill bit stop when turning the drill in the wood fixture and grinding it down. Could help to keep it set to one distance. Thumbs Up!
I find it interesting that without a single word you managed to take a lot of the "magic" out of how to sharpen a drill bit. I'w watched a number of videos where they used a lot of graphics and long explanations to show how to do this, and yet they didn't manage to really show what it all was about. In this video there are only a few seconds where you show the sharpening of the new edge on that drill bit and that was all that was needed to demonstrate so much of what they were trying to teach in those other videos.
Wow.. I thought it's going to be a lot harder. Well, you make it looks easy 👍
Perfecto.
JSK koubou, you are a genius! And I mean it! Your videos are so instructive and so well done, and full of fantastic ideas. continue the good job, my friend!
Excelente ideia, parabéns. Obrigado por dividi-la conosco.
Very clever, I've had one go and made a mess of it. Time to try again methinks, thank you.

Excellent. I liked it
Perfeito, parabéns. Fortaleza, Brasil.
Really interesting! Thanks a lot, dude! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Love the elegant simplicity of the drill sharpening jig!
Ty so much for sharing this method.
Merci
Muy practico Felicitaciones
Sei sempre il solito...ECCELLENTE!!!
I have a small lathe. Did the job with an angle grinder and brand new disc. (Protect the bed from grit with a cloth) Could also use a power drill to spin the the drill being sharpened.
gracias por compartir esta idea
Great, great job. Congrayulatios!!!

This is awesome. You are a genuine genius if there ever was one. Question? Are the drill bushings hardened?

I don't think they are, simply b/c of their thin walls. Heat treating leads to deformation and there is a risk of over-heating of small parts unless you give them bulk treatment. Seamless SS or mild steel tubes should work fine if you ream them first (slowly, lots of oil - not WD40!). Many wood drills are just CV steel (as opposed to HSS) and a welding seam would damage them rather quickly. Proper drill bushings are hardened and have a fillet on the entry side. There are many places to get them from, ranging from McMaster to AliExpress. I usually try to find NOS on eBay or Craigslist...
Great Work 👌👍
Brilliant.
This makes me want to have the grinding machine.
I will try this
great job bro
You are great 👍
Just great ✅✅✅
I love watching your videos. Always something to learn in a pleasant manner. I've recently heard of a term that may apply here. ASMR?
Great job..............
Excellent!!
ottimo risultato 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Well done.
hi, great project, a question what kind of grinding wheel is the white one, i wanna put one on my bench grinder. Best regards

white and pink are aluminum oxide and are especially for grinding high-speed steel w/o overheating the steel. Some say the pink wheels are less friable therefore don't cut as well, but will last longer. Others say there isn't a noticeable difference. I have pink on my grinder I use for sharpening my lathe tools and for minor general grinding. But I don't have much experience with anything else.

GRACIAS POR EL VÍDEO Y APORTE, OTRA COSA QUE NO SABIA UN SALUDO.....
This is how a video should be made. Showing what you have made and its use, then showing how to make it. Great video. The only gripe I have is I was taught never to use the side of the grinding wheel. Is that nonsense or have the rules changed I am an old timer! Thanks for sharing 👍☺️

I think he was not using the side but grinding the cutting edge of the wider section.
your designs and attention to detail are extraordinary. I want to make a pocket hole jig like the one you have. can you please tell me what you call the kind of clamp you use (the one with the red handle). I'm trying to source one or one like it here in Australia.
Can i resharpen my kreg bit like that?

Very helpful. Nice Job. I'll sub.
Hello there! I really like your self-made tools, if possible, can I buy from you? as the picture shows.
I'm amazed how simple you made it look like, please tell us thr dimensions of those screws.
The grinded part looks better than expectet, but in the end aou see the problem: the standard-drill is to short. You couldn't add a drill stop. Even without such a stop, the little holes are not completely through the material. The only thing you could do is setting the jig for thinner material.

The small hole is not supposed to be all the way through the workpiece, but guides the self drilling pocket hole screw through, I think.
If no grinding wheel just stick drill bit to a drill and let it grind on a plate...but it's much slower I think.
Hi, I see you drilling that hole too easy, I bought a cheap $12 set in eBay, and for me it is too difficult to drill the holes with the provided drill bit. Any special brand that you recommend? Thanks in advance.
You used the same snippet from the beginning demonstrating the screws being drilled in twice. So dod your makeshift pocket hole bit work or not?

That's kinda' his thing. He usually shows the item in use then proceeds to make it... ...and show it in use. It caught me this time at first because I'd been away from this channel for a few days. That's just his way. He proves it first. Lol!

…..
Video has the wrong title, this is how to make the whole jig , the modification is a side bonus lol
er....yeah, I like most of your stuff but with this I would just BUY one. They only cost a little more than the drill bit you just used to "make" one and they are RAZOR sharp unlike the normal drill bit you used.
Ok so I’m confused, is this a How-to use a pocket hole jig or a How-to make a pocket hole drill bit ? If it’s the latter then the small portion of that part is awesome, the rest is waste of time 😐. Thanks 👍
