Surprised not to see a “LS swap it” comment. 😅 I know if there was a reasonable swap you’d consider it. The violin dirge and tears in the camera lens was a fitting close.

I'd consider a LS swap if it didn't need about $3000+ in parts to get the body right and to make the swap work.

Beautiful Cars I have a 2006 Coupe, which I love, but you made the right decision. Problem with major rebuilds is that you will always be listening for problems once it is back on the road.

Poor old girl. A real shame but lots of value there in hard to find parts. The boot lift motor alone is impossible to buy now and most of them are broken.

The problem is it is such a marvel to look at. I love the design of these era Bentleys but the cost of ownership puts fear in the unknowns

I think you made the right choice with this one. Although I did want to see you fix and get back on the road. These engines are massive pain to work on and they take so long to remove. You'd be able to make a nice bit of coin parting this one out or selling it as a parts car.

main reason I’d stay away from Bentleys is , it seems parts are not available , so even if you have a money to fix it, you can’t get the parts , so screw it , I’m just keeping my S class , plenty of parts for it out there ..

  • @4LaneBlacktop

I can't believe you put the pan back on before finding out where the metal bits came from! My guess is that you are right it was run without oil and just needs new bearings now. I'm not familiar with Bentleys but with most cars you can replace the bearings without removing the whole engine.

  • @4LaneBlacktop

On these engine you can't see the rods or the crank without removing the upper oil pan. Even if you made it that far, they do not sell any of the bottom end parts including the bearings so it's a lost cause.

I was thinking the same as cwwiss1 until I saw there wasn’t any crank or rods showing once the lower pan was off. Man! I sure hate it for you along with the time and money already spent.
