She was elegant and her Vampira character influences the image of the female vampire to this day. Intelligent, humorous and articulate. A vibrant historian. She was still pretty at the time of this interview 🦇
She’s nothing but graceful, grateful and a natural entertainer. She deserved so much more than she had in the end💛👑
Nice to see her laughing and smiling and having a sense for fun and humor.
Maila was wonderful!
Maila Nurmi was a goddess woman. Her vampira was epic. Wish I could have met her.

I met her in the 90ts at a screening and she was very nice, talked a lot about James Dean for some reason, and signed a photo for me. I'm so glad I got to meet her.
She was beautiful as vampira. Love her.
You can see she is intelligent, and she seems as kind as she is beautiful
Maila seems quite nice and she is very articulate. It's cool that she created such an outrageous alter ego and made it work so well! I saw Plan 9 on the big screen last week. It frightened me as a youngster and mesmerizes me today. Brought back some great memories too...
Best Maila Nurm interview that I have seen ... thank you!
What’s so “incredibly strange” about this interview? I see nothing strange here. Just an awesome person and a legend! People were so cruel to her. So sad. RIP Malia.

Incredibly Strange is the name of the show. Malia Nurmi made some very cruel remarks about Ed Wood in several interviews, by the way.

@@kingjoe3rdnoone claims Ed was perfect... HOWEVER .. She has been on many interviews dhe, openly mocks Ed, puts down his movies and FORGETS the FACT that Vampira would be long forgotten
She's LOVELIER than lovely
The sad thing is that The Vampira Show, which only broadcasted to viewers in the Los Angeles area in the mid 1950s, aired live, and was not recorded on kinescopes. So, the entire show is Lost Media. What little survives in clips and pictures one might find online were pieces that were recorded by accident. There are rumors of surviving kinescopes, though are entirely unsourced and likely untrue. None of the claims have ever produced any evidence of there being any surviving footage.

I was wondering this. Maila states she was offered them but outbid at the last minute, by who she believed was Elvira. But again, who knows if they do or ever existed.

Maila Was Awesome
Amazing. Wonderful woman.😄👍
For such things to be around back in the mid 1950s is amazing. Proves that more than any genre, horro and scary stuff really has been a part of human imagination and story telling since time immemorial. NOICE!
She was the epitome of Hollyweird.
So much elegance, so much beauty. Maila was one in a million. The original queen of the darkness. Vampira.
All hail the true goddess of horror
Maila was such an incredible woman, so artistic and talented. When she couldn't get jobs in the arts she brought her talent to even doing carpentry and linolum flooring installs which to me are still artistic, she was old Hollywood where you worked hard. She deserved to be so much more and given more roles, hopefully she's shining bright today with her friend Jimmy having a laugh together. RIP Maila
RIP MAILA
Love her

I don't think that Vampira as a TV movie hostess lasted more than a few months in LA, but her fame went far beyond that.

Do we know who stole her memorabilia from her family yet? I know there is supposed to be a book, The Vampira Diaries coming out... but it was promised in print in fall 2019 with a gofundme raising almost $21,000..then a release in early 2021..seems like the project is having trouble. Is there any more reliable information on any of these topics? I'd like to buy Vampira merch ethically for once..meaning, in the name of (in)human decency, her FAMILY should profit. 🦇

This interview didn't seem strange, but the one she did for 'The Haunted World of Edward Wood' was odd. I guess because she was probably 10 years older than in this interview. Old age was setting in.

Nothing strange about this video.wonder if any body collected any memorabilia back then like Elvira.
There was a first, before Vampira. I'm unable to find anything on her, even on IMDB, but have seen an article on her. Can anyone help find info on her?

I guess that's what Vampira did with Morticia Addams' design, which was a thing since 1938. There's more to a character than just the style of their dress and color of their hair, you know? Elvira is nothing like Vampira, not in personality or presentation.
