    It really has; and Fremlin Walk is probably the main improvement over the last decade or so; it dramatically changed the shopping experience, even though some comment that it made Maidstone quite generic, I think it was much needed in order to keep the town's economy in good shape.

    @@mypuretours4450 I bought a flat on boxley road 5 years and alot of people said maidstone is shit then. Now nobody really says that anymore. Even dive bars like bar chocolate have been improving. There's been a lot of new building investment, I suspect even Chatham will probably become gentrified within the next 10yrs due to its proximity to London. Also the high speed rail link to London has been slept on. It's only now that the council have finally decided to upgrade maidstone east station. There's more to come, and you can be sure that house prices will increase.

    It was a bit rough in the nineties with a lot of trouble at night with all the clubs drawing people in. But modern Maidstone is blighted by its nearness to London, too many people with related excess housebuilding.

    Maidstone looks an attractive and clean town which retained alot of character and integrated new development better than a lot of other comparable places. As you can see on here a lot of British people are overly negative on places even if they have never visited, and another plus for Kent is having visited a number of times the people in general are very friendly.

    Kent is rough these days but it wasn't always so. Wow a long time since I went to Maidstone as Pizza Hut relocated further down and Costa is where they were and now it's shut altogether post COVID. Maidstone used to be the best place to shop in Kent when I was at school. Now , no ta, Bluewater and cut it out though i do still like TW and Canterbury.

  • @Itsmypureworld

    @Itsmypureworld

    Yeah I know what you mean, unfortunately the south part of Kent is being squeezed which is the still the nice part of Kent in my opinion. That said, Maidstone isn't too bad, but Canterbury and TW are definitely a cut above right now.

    Kent is the garden of England, it's not rough, but it does have it's fair share of issues like everywhere else of course. Maidstone is doing well to regenerate and keep business and employment rates consistent at least, but I would agree it's not on the same level as T-Wells/Canterbury, possibly Folkestone/Hythe even

    Hi Bojan ... I'd say so yes. Maidstone is just 32 miles from central London, has a population of approximately 75 thousand people with an average of 28 occupants per hectare. Around 38% of those are married couples, with an additional 10% co-habiting, and another 9% single parents... Maidstone is primarily made up of white, English Christian people, but we do have a multitude of other faiths and ethnicities in the area also and who are a much loved part of the community... Bower Grove, Five Acre Wood, and Invica Grammar are amongst the highest achieving Schools who all recieved 'Outstanding' status most recently... And of course Kent is known for it's beautiful Countryside, Oast Houses, Kentish Beers, etc... I hope that helps!? I was born in Maidstone and have lived here for sometime also, so I have a good grasp on the landscape of things here. Any further questions, do let me know! ... Brad

    @@stormyskies6073 Didn’t know it has a high crime rate? I’d say it’s better than Chatham area but not so nice as T Wells and Canterbury although they also have some interesting people. Maidstone is the County Town so there’s bound to be some interesting activity
