💙 Who are we?
We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

💙 Massive thanks to our amazing team of carpenters that never let us down and continue to amaze us at every step of the process: Toninho, Zeca, Hélio, Claiton, William, Nezo, Nico, Adilson, Beto and Luiz. YOU ARE LEGENDS!

What a monumental episode! (To quote MP) to leave the yard, to power around the coast with a purring engine, to have your first anchorage and to have given Caillou & Licky a better life. There really is nothing you can't do with hard work, a few friends and the support of 100,000 (Or Million if you are Ben) May you have good wind in your sails and countless happy miles with the beautifully restored Yaba! =)

Well done, I cannot believe its been 3.5 years in the boatyard. You have taken so many people on an adventure, that they would have never experienced for themselves. I cannot wait to see Yaba under sail. The sound of silence when a noisy diesel is turned off is priceless. The next chapter has just begun.

I have to admit....I was one of the folks way back at the beginning that thought you should abandon the refurbishment of Yaba, and instead just put the money into a newer boat that required less work. But I was definitely wrong! I've followed you from day 1, and have enjoyed every minute of your journey thus far. I'm sure the feeling of satisfaction you get from sailing a boat that you built yourselves is much greater than buying another of the production fiberglass boats we see on other sailing channels. Congrats on 100,000 subscribers, and on starting the next phase of your journey! I'll be following along!

It's all been said about how special each and every moment of this journey has beem. I am sitting here with a smug look on my face (as though I really had anything to do with it all) and such a feeling of contentment that it's frightening! So much to look forward to----and at 80, each moment is treasured. Thank you, your crew, and the four footed canine marine element.

My gosh, I remember when you were first introduced to a you tube audience with a sinking boat. What grit and determination you both have to work so incredibly hard for your dream. You are both so deserving of a voyage full of wonder.

Wow! What a journey! From a sinking boat at the dock with Duca and Roberta to the voyage where you were almost sinking the whole way to 3.5 years in the yard with those amazing shipwrights to launching again. From 1 subscriber to 100,000, a milestone for every creator. And to have both of these huge accomplishments happen at almost the exact same time? Amazing! 🥰🥳💝💯000💥

Quite a journey , From buying a rotten sinking party boat to moving out with a sound renewed sailing yacht. Hull dry inside, engine runs well, Internal systems work. Now for the Sailing equipment ! Rig for sailing and show off Yuba's laundry! Good luck to Yuba and her crew.
