    How do you use the DDD Feature on the Grinder? Does it need to be calibrated? in which scenarios is it helpfull?

    Can you please do a comparison between the e65s GBW and E80 Supreme? I'm wondering if the extra consistency is worth it over the improved speed and "sweetness" of the e80?

    Does the grinder tare the portafilter weight before grinding by weight? or do each portafilters need to be the exact weight? as the grinder just grinds 18g into the basket?

    It's a very nice grinder, but I am surprised they did not put a RF or Bluetooth module in it for adjustments.

    We are about to get in this Friday an updated model, plus list of roadmap features... And will do a new updated video once I had a change to play with it. Hoping they have more connectivity, but as yet no sure.

    I have one of these for about a month now, and I'm very disappointed with the amount of clumps in the ground coffee. Any troubleshooting tips you might know? This is my first mahlkonig grinder.

    Most grinders clump. Use a portafilter funnel and WDT before tamping.

    @@ToddJohnson15 I don’t know if I was supposed to do this, but what i I did was remove the two-pronged metal fork that was inserted along with the clump crusher and now my grinds are super fluffy. Interesting that I can’t find anything from Mahlkonig regarding the intended purpose of that piece; it's not even listed in the instruction manual for the grinder. It is, however, available for sale as a spare part via their website. Anywho, thanks for replying anyway.

    @@pooptattoo Other than EK43 I haven't used any Mahlkonig grinders. We use mythos for our service and if they begin clumping, 9 times out of 10 it's because the burr clean has been skipped that week. Maybe yours needs to be opened up and your burrs cleaned, otherwise perhaps it's been calibrated too fine?

    The weight unit in the grinder is by far more accurate than your Acaia scale. No need to check the dose of the grinder….

    So I'm thinking if I use a naked portafilter and I have to equal out the weights of the handles so they all weigh the same I would need to add the equivalent weight of the brass bottom and the twin spouts that have been removed from the naked and substitute it with blu tak? Is that what you suggesting!?

  • @dmackle3849

    @dmackle3849

    I think not. If I understand correctly the scale tares empty then weighs the inserted handle to identify it from other handles, so it can dispense the appropriate amount (eg 18g basket, after another tare). The ballast hacks are only required to differentiate in cases where multiple handles unfortunately weigh the exact same but require different grind amounts.

    @@dmackle3849 I am talking about when you swap between a regular handle and a bottomless handle.. there would be a difference in weight.

  • @dmackle3849

    @dmackle3849

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@russellcheeseman4855 yes. But.. I may be mistaken in thinking you’re interpreting the stated problem backwards. The dispensed amount should count from zero, AFTER you insert your handle and initiate a grinding, regardless which handle you insert. So fear not regarding vastly different handles (unless their weight actually falls outside the working range of the load cell). A problem that requires a ballast hack only exists if you have different handles REQUIRING different doses BUT which COINCIDENTALLY weigh the “exact” SAME when EMPTY. Because then the grinder can’t disambiguate automatically according to registration data entered during your setup of your various handles. You could theoretically register each handle with a single basket and again with a double basket. So the difference in metal weight between the two baskets would allow the grinder to know the correct dose you’d assigned against the separate registrations. Unfortunately I don’t own this grinder. I’m only trying to channel their rather crafty industrial engineers and software developers. So I could have it quite wrong.

    You're misguided if you think these are the same. This quietly grinds a full dose in about 3 seconds. Sette takes much longer and is the loudest grinder I've ever seen. And let's not get started regarding how fast the sette wears out vs. being a commercial grinder that can grind hundreds of times a day with consistency. This is like saying that a Kia is the same as a Ferrari 😂
