Музыка

#MetalAcademix present the first Spanish Battle of the Bands between #MagoDeOz and #Saurom.
Both perform the song Molinos de Viento (Windmills). #MolinosdeViento. Batalla de las Bandas!
00:00 Metal Academix react to Molinos de Viento
02:59 Mago de Oz Molinos de Viento
17:54 Saurom Molinos de Viento
Mago de Oz composed the song in 1998 for their Don Quixote-inspired album La Leyenda de la Mancha. Saurom released their cover on an album that gathered the creme de la creme of Spanish metal to honor 20 years since the original album was launched.

"Molinos de viento(Windmills)", within the concept of the album is a conversation between Don Quixote and Sancho, who the first mentioned explains to Sancho that there is something "beyond reality", and not only what his eyes see (this doing reference to Don Quixote's "madness")

This is the better approach, this song has so much energy in the lyrics because the impulse to adventure of Don Quijote combined with his madness are perfectly united to a metal music and voice from the band

@@MetalAcademix Unfortunately the Golden Age of French Metal sung in French (earlier 80’s) is over. There were extraordinary bands like : SORTILEGE , H-BOMB, BLASPHEME... But it is almost impossible for a heavy metal band singing in French to survive for a long time. And unlike other European countries, France has no Rock Culture... ... Nowadays you can try this funny parodico-metal band : ULTRA VOMIT. \m/ Salut Métallique depuis la France.

I actually find it very interesting that in some countries there is a deep metal/rock culture (think Scandinavia, but also say Brazil, Italy, UK), and in some other countries there just is not enough feritle ground for this type of music. I have no explanation, just this observation. Ultra vomit promises to be funny by the name alone :D Anamaria

The song is taking a reference of Don Quixote (Don Quijote de la Mancha), is talking about how you live your life from a third perspective, talking about what is the meaning of to do the think like everybody else, why not enjoy your life and do what you want, go to discover the world, drink sing and dream, feel your hard. Is a description of the travels of Don Quixote but more poetic way less literary. I like booth versions, obviously Mägo de Oz win for the nostalgia effect. Talking about the Celtic instrument here in Spain Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria was a Celtic region before Romans conquer all the peninsula, they keep a lot of tradition after as well, they pass through many generation and centuries for that reason you can ear this kind of instruments on the song of Mägo de Oz and as well in this version on Saurom. And yes I recommend the Band was one of my first band in spanish I meet when I arrive to Spain 17 years ago, the first album are really good latest albums I didn't earing, they change the vocalist I saw twice on a Festival first time was normal, last time on 2018 was good. For sure you need to do more on spanish and other language maybe something in Italian.

If you liked Mago de Oz, you can check out the album "Celtic Land" It is an album that came out in 2013 (quite underrated) but includes English tracks from its original songs, although many consider them simple karaoke adapted, or could check the rainbow cover of "Temple of the King" called "Templo del adios". Hola estimados: It's nice you hear some in my mother tongue too. Well, the original is from Mägo de Oz and is folk metal based, but I enjoy most the Saurom's version. Lead Vocals sounds more "complete". Also, the solo part sounds better. So they are my winner. If you liked melodies made in spanish, let me recommend you some: Avalanch: "Torquemada", "Aquí estaré", "Las ruinas del Edén" Barón Rojo: "Los rockeros van al infierno", "Resistiré". Buen video.

Molinos de Vientos is a song about Don Quijote telling Sancho Panza how he saw life though his crazy mind, how he saw beauty where others didn’t. Lyrics are very meaningful. The album where this song comes it’s a conceptual album about Don Quijote “La leyenda de La Mancha” Also, Saurom is a very interesting band with many different phases in their music, they have two albums where they’re not folk, “Maryam” is about how Virgen Mary experience the pain of losing Jesus, the pain of a mother. I would recommend “Irae Dei” or “Aquel paseo sin Retorno”. Also “Once Romances desde Al-Andalus” is one of their heaviest albums with little folk, I recommend from there “Reina de la Oscuridad” or “Zulema” From their folk songs I would say “La batalla de los cuernos de vino” thats also related to Don Quijote, tells the story when Don Quijote thought he was fighting monsters to defend his princess (who was actually the priest) but actually was fighting against bags of wine

Well there may be people who have given their point of view but now I will leave mine . Most Mägo de Oz albums come with a concept story, each song tells a story, even if it is not a concept album. "Molinos de Viento" belongs to the album "La Leyenda de la Mancha", an album where they tell you musically the whole story of Don Quixote de la Mancha, the story of Windmills in the novel is set after Don Quixote faces the mills thinking they were giants, the song itself would be a conversation between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, and Sancho recriminates Don Quixote for his hallucination but Don Quixote explains that he does not see with his eyes, but with his heart and imagination Mägo de oz apart from the version of "La Leyenda de la Mancha" has two more versions (not counting the 4 live versions in which one of them has the intro "Highway to Hell" by AC / DC) an acoustic version that belonged to the single of "¡Feliz Navidad CABRONES!" and later on the compilation album "Rarezas" and a new version of 2006 on the compilation album "The Best Oz" Saurom's version was made for Mägo de Oz's 30-year tribute album "¡Stay Oz! Hasta que el Cuerpo Aguante". Well, I can't decide because I like both versions and all the ones there are, there are even two more versions of "Molinos de Viento" that I like, one by a girl named Raquel Eugenio (which the drummer Txus, leader and founder of the band gave her the stage name Xana Lavey) and the Norwegian version called Pellek who doesn't pronounce Spanish very well but tries her best and that is appreciated. Greetings from Peru.

That is truly detailed knowledge! Thank you so much! I actually have a question, since you know more than I on this point (a question that comes from another comment here). Is this video the former official video from Mago de Oz (before they rerecorded the song)? And is this video from 2002? It's not so easy to find out about these details... Thank you, and rock on! - Anamaria PS: I knew that the album commemorates *30* years of Mago de Oz, but somehow I said 20... 😳

@@MetalAcademix Well the truth is that I know a lot about this band because I admire it too much and I like to make known more about its history to people who have just heard it 😅. And yes, the video clip that you saw of Mägo de Oz is the official one, at first they used to "parody" his songs, an example of this is Maritornes (Acoustic Version) (kzread.info/dash/bejne/oZ93rKmmj7HShM4.html) (By the way I think it would be better if you record your reaction to this video), and well the video clip of "Molinos de Viento" and " Maritormes" like others, are from the VHS" Resacoxis en Hispania (1999) a documentary video that was made for the first 10 years of Mägo de oz. There is a video of a version of "Molinos de Viento" that comes out on the live album "A costa da Rock (2003)" (kzread.info/dash/bejne/laFpyruloNTNaKQ.html) as an extra on the DVD and is the version of another live album "Fölktergeist (2002)" (kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqmjssdxorDWqqg.html) but the latter It was without a DVD, I suppose that's what he meant with a 2002 version because I don't know another 🤔. As I had already said, the 2006 version came out in "The Best Oz" but its video clip came out in 2011 (kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKaMw9GDptC-hKw.html), where the vocalist at that time is surrounded by books and in the background they show part of one of his live albums Barakaldo D.F. (2008)(kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKl50MuGg7m3Zqw.html).

SING WHO SINGS IT. I recommend listening to "La Cantata del Diablo" which lasts about 21 minutes but it is a masterpiece, there are only 3 versions, one from the album Gaia II: La voz dormida (2005) and two that are from Barakaldo D.F. (2008) and Diabulus in Opera (2017) (kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6uEtaprpNSbYKg.html).

You should compare Saurom's tribute with the 2006 Mägo de Oz' version from "The Best Of Oz" instead of the original, it has more instruments, a better mastered and record and Jose Andrea (the vocalist) was at his peak. The original has more "punch" and it seems more amateur but is marvelous and a classic

Hi my frieds. Modern Spain is inheriting the culture of the peoples living in Spain. People who was living here for thousands and thousands of years and some other people who immigrate or conquered our lands. Nevertheless Celtic is a very important substrate in current Spaniards. Same as in all western Europe. You have to think that before Roman conquest about half or one third of the Peninsula was populated by Celtic tribes. And definitely the celtic cultural heritage is clearly found in some northern regions of the country. Specifically in the region of Galicia but not only there. Celts were finally romanized but some of their customs, some of their beliefs and some of their music still are alive in us. What I mean to say is there is no such difference between Spanish vs Celtic culture because Celtic is part of the Spanish culture.

I have tried to solve this mystery... The video branded as official by the band corresponds to the 2006 re-recording of this song. So this is the early official video of the band, but it is not labeled as such (and does not come from their KZread channel). Thus, the video showed in the episode is the *former* official video of Mago de Oz, featuring the members of the band, including their lead singer at the time, José Andrëa.
