    Don't move any piece twice before casting" is rather something that one can see as written in stone as a beginner and average club player...later on...there are so many openings and it's beautiful variations where you have to move the same piece twice...

Not everything is 1:1 with intelligence, because if it was those people would be amazing at everything, not just something they were very passionate about and spent a long time learning. Don't get me wrong though he's clearly a genius, but there are plenty geniuses that aren't good at chess.

    It’s the same with sports too so I feel like most people do know I’ve just started chess liken2 days ago and I can tell this caliber is just unreal. Same with video games I play rocket league and the skill difference of the top 1% and top .1% and are so different it’s not even funny

    @@ian9toes In the spirit of fair argument, I will say this. Playing a blindfolded simul is literally is a skill. I realize it's a pedantic point, but just because a skill may be impossible for many people to obtain doesn't mean it's not a skill all the same. Circlejerking over who is the most "intelligent" is boring because intelligence is abstract and hard to understand clearly, whereas skill is much easier to view. Of course, Magnus is obviously a Genius, and nearly all grandmasters are highly intelligent.

    That's a terrible move for white and opens a trap. Magnus could then move his bishop to G5. It would be check and it could not be blocked because Magnus would take it there on e7. If king just moves to d7 instead of blocking then he still loses the option to castle while also being in a bad position.

    Qxg3 is better because it comes with check and is forcing mate in 3. With Rxf2, the king doesnt need to Kxf2 and white has moves like g4 to delay defeat.

    magnus knows where the other player is going to go so he simply makes his next move ahead of time. so when they do the move he anticipated it completes his move. like for example when his knight is replaced with his pawn, notice the other players bishop right there disappears

For example: If they drew their first game it would be 0.5 - 0.5 and what should happen next that one guy will only have and advantage of 0.5? If one wins - it’s either 0.5-1.5 or 1.5-5 if they draw again it’s 1-1

    Cruel in-between move before the forced checkmate shown after that, if White tries to defend with something like Bg2 (which prevents the g3 capture being with check) then Black can simply take the queen. If the queen moves then we still have the forced sequence

    The pawn capture was made by a conditional premove. Magnus moved his bishop then captured on the same square with his pawn. The opponent then captured the bishop with his knight. Then automatically the premove occurred.
