fascinating to see bot strategies, they're unfazed by attacks that they've analyzed as futile, something humans don't have time to calculate, and bots look to incapacitate opponents pieces and shut down space it seems as a priority. Interesting to watch but impossible to replicate, like all impeccable art.

4:55: By checking the differences between playing and not playing b3 here with Stockfish, I can confirm the reason behind the move was to prevent c4. Black eventually moved the light-squared bishop over to e6 to prepare c4, so that must be a problem if this move isn't played now. I wanted to check with the Stockfish 15 that is on my computer to see if it would play something else. After quite a bit of a think, it eventually did play b3. I gave the exact same position to a beta/development version of the upcoming Stockfish 16. Whereas Stockfish 15 thought for a while and played b3, Stockfish 16, after only a little think, played Ne4. Either Stockfish 16 didn't realize it needs to think longer here, or it finds a problem with b3 Stockfish 15 didn't see. Very interesting...

stockfish has this eerie skill of packaging your pieces but gives you a piece of candy or 2 or even the whole bag! so you aren't sad
Watching this video made me feel better about myself losing to the engine lol
Levy! You're the best at breaking down games. Loving these engine games! I think it's because you (IM) understand more advanced complex positions/tactics and are able to articulate them back to a casual audience (~1000) in layman's to follow along.
Game 2 is actually super instructive. I’m going to try playing against the London like this, with the queenside attack and bishop f8 bishop e8

Always like your game commentary. Weaving pop culture into your analysis makes it unique comparatively to others I have seen. My favorite parts are the educational moments, and explaining why something is supposed to be obvious. As a low level players that really helps.
I love how Levy comes up with new ideas and entertain us,keep it up levy👍
hy, this is a super awesome concept of pairing engines n watch em play with someone as gud as Levy to make us understand those incredibly complex series of moves....gr8 job keep making us these awesome new type of vids....thnk u
That is so cool. I think Stockfish is emphasizing the power and importance of pawns.
"Engines play until mate" "Magnus bot resigned"
Magnus bot: Makes a normal looking move Stockfish: So you have chosen... death!
This is so much better than those content farming chess channels that doesn't even bother to use their own voices.

Really enjoyed this video, I vote to make it a series as well.
It's the year 3145, Stockfish 420 has become self-aware and taken over internet networks all over the world. Humanity is plunged into a deep state of despair, until one day in an abandoned fishing village somewhere in Norway, Magnus Botsen time travels back to this point and takes down the Engine threat with the Bongcloud opening: Fabiano Marijuana variation
Would love more noob arena stuffn
White: E4 Black:E5 White(Stockfish): “blunder, checkmate in 127”
During peak COVID days I experimented with the Magnus app and Stockfish a lot. I let them okay these games dozens of times and they all follow this same pattern. Even if you play a particular opening for it and then let Stockfish play, at some point, Stockfish starts fighting fro space and reducing the opponent’s pieces to pawns.
"bots play till mate" also "and in this position Magnus bot resigned"
This is just good stuff. The high level bots are fun, but could we do bots of classical chess players? Say Paul Morphy vs Lionel Kieseritzky or something?
are you going to be covering the st. louis rapid and blitz?
loved this thanks, levy, even watched it twice ;P
If I see any video with Stockfish, I stop what I'm doing and watch.
This series deserves a name
In the first game b3 was played to prevent ... c4, it's a typical idea in doubled c-pawn structures

@ChessDejavu in both cases, especially in Fischer's case they would need some time to "catch up" and study modern theory. I won't act like I am good enough at chess to understand it, but the game seems to have changed quite a bit with computers and modern prep

There are several certain truths that are universal in society: 1. Death 2. Taxes 3. Computers being better than human beings at chess 4. Genshin Impact is the best game to ever exist
Love it. What about having Stockfish play the botez gambit.
Here is a video idea for a life stream: You play against stockfish, and you have to survive for 1 minute, but you have only 5 seconds per move. Also stockfish plays an aggressive opening like Kings gambit or fried liver
I love seeing these types of videos!
The classic blunder against stockfish is playing against it
