Who's saying that? This is a man who has always lived an affluent life. He can afford virtually anything he wants, and has had those options for a long time. And yet he continues to work instead of living on permanent vacation. I don't know why - maybe to preserve his legacy; perhaps to feed his ego; possibly to provide jobs and opportunities for thousands of people who rely on his businesses. He is not afraid of work - working class people understand that. As to being a Christian - only he and God know, but he has been supportive of Christians - I believe Christians appreciate that, too.

Publically (national TV) asking for prayer that floods of biblical proportions would occur in Denver, even the death of President Obama after his first election. Here’s a little story about being catholic and having varying views on abortion access. I was raised strictly Catholic. I attended Jesuit schools for high school and college and a parish school for K-8. I was also a little wild as a teenager and found myself pregnant. My parent’s close college friend was also the priest who baptized me. At that time, he was the president of the Jesuit school I attended. I went to him for council after finding out about what was going on. Never once did he pressure me into any decision. He just offered me love and support for my own life and body. I even asked about abortion and was considering it. He urged me to think seriously about available options and make choices that were right for me. I did end up having that baby and she’s now 24, but I made that decision knowing I had options and would be loved, respected, and supported no matter what I did. That is the embodiment of a Catholic. I want to scream at these people who fall in line with the loudest voice. Christianity is not a veil to cloak your own contempt for the free will and choices of others.

The thing I find baffling is that they can't condemn Trump, and they grasp at straws to condemn or even critisize something real of Biden, since a lot of the things actually worth disliking him for are things him and Trump have in common or in close proximity. Both of them are just old capitalists who don't give a fuck about the American people or the people abroad their choices harm as a president. Just want the GDP to go up and up, regardless of how disabled or elderly people get left behind, young generations can't get housing, or hell even food. It's all just a headache. Edit: And yes, I do hate Trump far more. He's a literal textbook fascist, whereas Biden is just "fascist lite" really, with his ideals of increasing the war budget and so on to keep doing wars and killings abroad for resources. I just can't like either one of them because of how they treat people who they are supposed to represent.

The Founding Fathers were deists, not Christians, which is why they believed everyone had the right to worship whomever or whatever they wanted, or not worship at all, hence the First Amendment, and believed religion has no place in politics.

"Under god" wasn't added to the pledge of allegiance until 1954. It is absolutely not what the founders intended. It should not be there. Period.

There's no sin too great that God can't forgive. That's what Christianity is all about, grace and mercy. None of us deserve to be forgiven but God forgives us just the same if we ask him with a repentant heart. I don't really know if Trump is a Christian or not, but if he has confessed his sins and accepted Christ then he definitely is regardless of whatever he has done in the past. The separation of church and state isn't in the constitution. There were a lot of state churches after the constitution was put in place. The phrase comes from a letter Jefferson wrote to a Baptist church in Connecticut.

@@rhuet8261 I know. It's taking about how there will be no more state churches. That's not the same as keeping the state separate from religion. There are ways the state and church can be together without there being a state church. Like, say, war memorials with crosses on them. Or the Pledge of Allegiance including the words "under God." Or maybe prayer in congress. None of those involve the establishment of a national religion.

That means REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGIOUS ICONOGRAPHY, WORDS, OR CUSTOMS IN GOVERNMENT. That means the 1950's laws about the pledge of allegiance and national motto are ILLEGAL, and people and the Supreme Court have been turning a blind eye to this for all that time. "God" is a marker of religion. Putting that marker in official pledges and on money and on federal buildings IS 1,000,000% ILLEGAL according to any SANE INTERPRETATION of the First Amendment.

A number of those interviewed said that they didn't want other peoples' beliefs forced on them. Yet that is precisely what Christian nationalists want to do - force THEIR view of God onto the whole country. Do they not see the dichotomy?

Maybe they think he is the pillaging and colonizer kind, like how much of Catholocism was throughout history. Origional tales in the Bible and more modern interpretations and teachings of Christianity though definitely don't align with colonization and just plain fascism. From what I was raised to know, Jesus was a teacher and he fought to right the wrongs of the world and help the most vulnerable and outcast populations. If he were a large figure today, either religiously or historically, as a real person he'd be on the side of Indiginous peoples, disabled peoples, the dismantle of oppressive systems, and so much more. They'd just criucify him again and call him a communist. (All while not knowing what communism is, or the difference between it and socialism as systems politically or economically.)

"All I want is religious freedom -- for no religion but my own". Listening to these folks is just painful. Two sentences in, and everything they 'believe' already falls apart. Yeesh.

I just love how they make it up as they go along.

Same breath "We need to protect freedom of religion.... Yeah, we should be teaching the bible in schools..." These people are ill informed, unable to think critically or express coherent ideas to the point that it is pathological. Im a Christian, and Im horrified by the current Christian movement in the US. I actually think they are sheep in wolves clothing and false prophets, and they dont even know it. Lead first with love and patience people, regardless of your religion or lack thereof.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people profess a religion that they know literally nothing about…
