@@matthewvasquez9278 not sure how to compare values that doesn't at least include a number as a reference! and i admit i'm neither an expert, nor even born that long ago, but after a quick googling, i found that the top speed of ford model a was around 65 mph, so i don't think the developers intentionally made things slow and dull, it's just consistent with the era they were depicting!

Gangsters in remake are smart enough not to enter in the building with "Saliery's bar" sign.

@@badreedinedjellali1328 In that time Morello and Salieri were not looking for a war, so in the case Tommy Angelo was not in so high steem of the Don, for the sake of peace he probably would've gave him to the morello's people. Anyways I like both the old and new cutscenes in general. The new one being a little more cheesy but right ammount of cheesy.

@@badreedinedjellali1328 Right, I thought that too... and thought that in the original, it was stupid of them to go walking into Salieri's bar because they'd just get shot. Even though there were cutscenes saying that sometimes the Dons would actually interact besides trying to kill each other (narrated how Salieri and Morello cried on each others' shoulders during Frank's funeral), no "human interaction"/de-escalation was ever shown between low-level thugs. The new cutscene was an improvement, showing that even if these guys were trying to kill each other last night, they'd still avoid pushing things so far they get killed today. And that de-escalation is an option 😅 Still not pleased with some cinematic choices in the remake, but this is one of the better points.

I’ll say that the old game still has that charm, but damn the new one looks like a Coppola’s film

The original still has the entire original score by Vladimir Simunek. The remake kept only the opening theme. Still, both are good in their own way

@@_Noobies_Gaming_ Nah, the original voice acting felt quite "wooden" and emotionless, though the voices are undeniably memorable, speaking of which, R.I.P George DiCenzo, Don Salieri's voice actor, to me the most memorable voice in the original game.

This should be getting way more attention, the mocap & facial animation is really damn good. Why did they refer to this as a “definitive edition”? It’s a full blown remake.

Personally i start the original Mafia yesterday (it's free on Steam) so I'm not really an old player, just played mafia 2 thousands of times. And the characters doesn't look like what i thought at all. Whatever but the church scene made a complete opposite emotions to me in the remake, like the message was different

I mean the current games are the best the series has ever been. The thing that could work is a legacy DLC expansion, maybe putting old maps from Blood Money etc. Into the newer game. Because hitman 1-2 are also playable in 3, it would really become the ultimate version of Hitman having the older maps introduced and reintroduced with mew narrative elements

What I love about Mafia is, it doesn't just feel like a game, it also feels like I'm watching a movie at the same time.

Tommy is killed by Vito and joe, you don’t have to be discrete about that scene since everyone knows what happens already, it’s almost a 20 year old game

I like to imagine the Definitive Edition is a dramatic retelling of the story in comparison to the events in the original - both have their unique charms.

Mafia 2002 still looks lovely! I played this game 2003 and this was my one of the favorite!

Been a huge Mafia fan from day one, and I've been crying out for a remake, so so so happy this is coming and SOOOOON

@@mahmouds3162 little tiny things here and there but only for better context, you learn more about Tommy and his wife. The general story beats and missions are all there, as a huge fan of the original, I absolutely loved this. Felt more connected the the story than ever.

I never got to play the original mafia but after playing the second one multiple times and the third once, I would go on KZread and watch full play throughs of the original. It’s funny cause everyone in the comments were talking about how great a remake would be and now today I wake up to find out that they did it and it’s out today! I’m looking forward to this weekend

I miss the darkness in original scene, it passes me better the night than the definitive edition.

Beyond amazing. And Paulie and sams Voices are great, they sound more young and naive, and Salieri is fantastic! Everything except some animations are more or less perfect. Can't wait to come back to Lost Heaven and Love it like it's 2002 all over again ♥️

@@peternakic5049 And yet we already feel like that. It doesn't have the same feel to it. Most obvious thing would be to look at the button prompts to open doors. I don't remember any giant "Press Right Mouse Click To Enter" signs in the original. The rest you can find yourself. It just doesn't feel right. It looks pretty cool, and looks very enjoyable, but other than the music and nostalgia of the story, the gameplay doesn't bring back any of those feelings. Hopefully the driving really is that good and at least that brings back some memories.

I remember having the original when I was 11 years old. Was pretty bummed out when they made part 2 and 3 because it was never the same as the original. This is a must buy for me. I've been waiting for this day to come and its almost here

The pc one you can use the map while driving it’s the tab button or something like that. Brings up translucent map

Looks great but it is a shame that they play the soundtrack over the dialogue. Some of the cutscenes would work much better with no music at all.

@@jamesglovecrazy I'll probably do it, but I think the soundtrack in the cutscenes could be better edited. Just playing some music over the scenes is a bit lazy, doesn't matter if the music is good. You have to balance dialogue, silence and music in order to achieve a great cinematic quality in your scenes, and this is just not as good as it could be. I'm still buying the game however. The acting looks and sounds very good. And the dialogues look great.

@@BillGunslinger Yeah I agree and a huge issue with the remake too is lack of an intense soundtrack that lead to awkward scenes and other moments not sticking well together. The original mastered the audio queues for sure.

For a 2002 game, this is so unbelievably good!

Judging by the name I was sure it was probably just a port. And I bet others thought so too. Calling it remake would definitely made me look at it earlier. They should have called it Remake. Just like FF7 did.

The video on the right is how i remember seeing it almost 20 years ago. It was the most amazing, sprawling open world game I had ever seen and the graphics was awesome! Cant wait for this remake!!

I remember buying the game when I was about 13 for the PC, having never heard of it before (think it was £10) and it’s probably now my favourite game ever made.

For a person who Played and completed the Original Mafia, Seeing the Remake this good and knowing you won't be able to play it sure is heart breaking, But man This Sure brings some Sweet memories back of the good old days of the ps2 and 3

Highly recommend the original! This remake feels like the kept the story and the names but made completely original characters to fit those names. The tone is really different.

I’m excited. Started with part 2 loved it. Enjoyed part 3 gameplay and graphics but didn’t like the direction it went and how it wasn’t the typical mafia route.

I’m glad that the video says which one is the remake, I couldn’t tell otherwise.

I remember playing the original for hours and hours during my childhood. Seeing this high quality remake is awesome. Can't wait to play it

"Remake", "remaster" - these terms suggest different approaches to the recreation of the game, and literally no one is smart enough to combine them for the best result. Would it really be worse, if, instead of re-writing dialogues and scenes, developers would've just retell the story frame by frame, only changing "idle-talking" minor scenes, gameplay and graphics?

Mafia 1 is a great game when I was younger now looking at it now with the remake almost out brings back alot of memories am so looking forward to this for sure and also I wish they made a remake of the warriors game what a game and film love it

Fact that they didn't use the original soundtrack (except for the main theme) and changed the main characters too much, is why I still prefer the original game. The atmosphere is different. But they still did a great job.

I thought this is a remastered, now I realised it's actually a remake, wow.

the game looks absolutely beautiful, i just pray it is optimized well.

I love Mafia: definitive edition already. It is magnificent in every way.

They put everything wrong with modern gaming into it. - Automatic cover system: Check - Unlimited ammo in car sequence: Check - Arch to show where throwables will land: Check - Removed recoil: Check

Does the definitive edition have content that was cut from the original like derek’s side missions? If it doesn’t they’ve missed a massive opportunity

Of course because of nostalgia the original will be always better for me,but they really made a good remaster

Wilhelm Scream! It's an overused sound effect in old movies that became inside joke between filmmakers.

Call me crazy but I think the old one had more personality. the characters were more likable, their voices were better even though the graphics and gameplay are undoubtedly superior. It may be just nostalgia, but still...

With regards to the visuals it's undoubtedly just nostalgia goggles. The writing and performances on the other hand come down to the personal preference.

Edwin C. I don’t think it’s “quite obviously nostalgia”. I’ve never played the original, but going to videos of the 2002 game, the original Paulie’s voice sounded so much better than this new anxious teenager-sounding Paulie...

Original is still far more better. The guys on the remake only focused to switch the environment, the old mafia had feeling added that can't be replaced.

GameSpot cut like 90% of bad stuff and showed only good things. During the 1st mission Tommy can't shut up, he speaks, screams, ask questions left and right. Then they are being chased by a car and it feels like Sam/Polly used WW2 supply of Thomson ammunition to shoot back, then suddenly a road block consisting of 3 cars appears in front of them (how the hell did they know where they would go?). And mission ends by jumping over a drawing bridge. Who the hell wrote that? Michael Bay? And during the mission where you need to get the booze, it feels like you destroy half of the Lost Haven police department and not a couple of cops on a payroll. Also, BOSS BATTLE with an ARMOURED TRUCK. What the actual f....?

They nailed the remake 🔥🔥🔥

It's a really pretty game but for some reason it looks as if the faces are missing shadows or detail. They look really cartoony at times.

Yes, they look like place holder models. No one here seems to point this out. They suffer from the issues people complained about in Andromeda or even the recent Halo...too clean, automated animations. But criticism is subjective 😏

This gameplay of the game from june it was supposed to drop on August 25 but they pushed it back one more month to work on it more

i hope they make dlc for tommy,paulie, and sam original face....
