This was very helpful, and considering that I bought the Bat by Hot Toys and the Tumbler from Soap Studios, the choice was a no-brainer. I am going with the Mafex. Thank you, Victoria.

Great comparison. You just saved me from double dipping on the Mafex. Btw, did you know that the Mattel does have one feature the Mafex doesn't have? The cover on the seat area can open to reveal the 'engine'. So along with the price point and this little 'action' feature, I think I'll keep my Mattel. Keep up the great work!

You can buy the Mafex Batpod for $54 clearance plus shipping, right NOW! Act fast ebay and BigBadToyStore. I'm not sure if I'll get it because I'm not a huge batman fan but I like the bike but I have other things on my priority list. Most sellers on ebay want $80 but teir is a few selling it for $60 plus $14 ship

the mafex one is great but for the extra 80$ i think i would go for the mattel one, cool comparison video, i picked up a couple of hot wheel batmobiles that had a big price difference to compare

Been eyeing two Mattel Pods on eBay. $42 and $45. Then ran across a Mafex for an unbelievable $25 in its original box last night on a site called Swap.

Hey Victoria, I really like to play with my action figures and really need to know if the MAFEX Batpod is just as sturdy or well built as I imagen the Mattel Batpod is. Since the MAFEX is $60 could you recommend a site(s) where I could purchase the Mattel Batpod for a similar price. Thank you because I'm looking forward to getting my Batman: The Dark Knight S.H. Figuarts Batman in June. Which of the 2 (MAFEX or Mattel) might fit that figure better since it's a 6 inch figure? Thank you and I love your channel.

The Sentinel Thanks for the kind words. The Mattel version is much sturdier. I broke part of one of the pedals on my Mafex version simply by trying to place the figure on it. I also lost part of one of the cannons for a short time. Eventually I super glued them in place so that it wouldn't happen again. I trust that the upcoming Figuarts Batman will be much sturdier than the current Mafex version as well. As for where to get the Mattel Batpod the only place I can suggest is eBay. It's been out of production so long that it's really your only option at this point. I have no clue what price they're currently going for.

I got it from ebay about 7 years ago.

I would go with the Mattel.The Mafex is better looking overall,but not enough to justify the price difference.Cool comparison video Victoria.

Well, now there's an SH Figuarts version too. It's probably the best one, but it's also quite expensive.

Given the asking price for both I'd say the Mattel version is likely the way I'd go. The MAFEX version is nicer for sure, but unless you can get a really sweet deal on it I'd say its not worth it.

cool compairison i think i lik the mattel one just a little more doesn't look as flimsy as the mafex one the mayfex one does not look too bad but it just looks really flimsy

Then that must make you the target audience.

MATTEL is better by the pressure and even looks better than MAFEX which is ridiculously expensive and the weapon is not so relevant, if I prefer MATTEL, is the first time I visit your channel and I liked your video, you have my thumb up and my subscriptions to your channel, greetings from Honduras.

The Mafex is cool, but I'll stick with my Mattel version.

Just got my MAFEX BATPOD fot $69

Big Bad Toy Store has dropped the price of the MAFEX version to $55 if anyone is trying to make this decision right now.

these two are not bad but i have the HotToys one along with a Batman and special cape..$400 for the bike. $200 forthe figure. one storm and they are not what they used to be. oh well s**t happens.

Never saw a 6" batpod here in New Zealand, thats the problem with "exclusives" in USA. We dont have alot of the chain stores you guys have. The Japanese always make a precision product of the highest standards and don't make them willfully hard to get. That's why I am collecting more Japanese made high end toys and walking away from HASBRO STAR WARS and other lesser quality "EXCLUSIVE" offerings that end up in the bargain bin in Target.

Sure, the Mattel Batpod was $20 back in 2012, but 6 to 7 inch figures use to be $10, now they're $20 to $30. By now, Mattel should make figures as articulated as Hasbro's (ball-joints!). I agree that Mattel's version is good deal, even if priced today at $50, but folks need to realize that consumers in Japan pay more for their limited run collectibles than we do in the U.S. The Batpod, unrealistic? It was an actual engineered vehicle for the movie, just like the Tumbler. My peeve is, where does the Batpod store it's ammunition?

+cadsux It's unrealistic because it's impossible to drive it in many of the ways it is shown in the films. It can't bank corners the way a motorcycle can, not to mention half the stunts that were in the film. Hence, unrealistic. Even with the increase in cost for a more limited run, there's still no way the Mafex version is worth $100. If a figure is $40-50, then this shouldn't be more than $60 tops.

I agree the Batpod is not as practical as a motorcycle. It never cornered, and it needed a wall to bounce up and reverse direction since it couldn't do a U-turn. I meant realistic because Christopher Nolan likes practical effects, and had some poor guy try to work the darn thing. Yeah, the Mafex should at least have some diecast.

Just listening to you say aesthetic 50 times and not actually compare anything side by side. I have no reference of measurement because you didn't actually measure anything
